Integrated Solar, Daylight & Energy Modeling

Description: This workshop will include lessons on performing hourly solar simulations, hourly daylight
simulations and linking both sets of outputs to sub-hourly annual energy simulations to optimize building
performance. Highlights will include:
Solar shading & optimization (static and dynamic shades)
Comparative HVAC loads calculations with/without solar shades.
Daylight simulation for LEED (includes spatial daylight autonomy)
Daylight harvesting with daylight controls
Lighting energy analysis
Whole building energy analysis with integrated solar & daylight simulations

The software tool used for this workshop will be IES-VE.







IMPORTANT: Trainees should have the IES VE software installed on their own laptops before arriving at the
training course AND should have a valid training license. It is strongly recommended that this is complete at
least 1-2 weeks in advance of the training course. No additional laptops will be available on site.
