The VM (VHD) files should reside on an external, or second, disk drive with at least 60 GB free space

After you have downloaded and unzipped the files you are provided with a Hyper-V import file. The
following notes are provided to help you setup the VM under Hyper-V Management. This import file is
provided for Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V. If you are running Windows 2008 and not R2 you will have to
configure the virtual machine settings manually.

1. In the Hyper-V management console, right click on the server and select Import Virtual Machine

2. Locate the folder where you unzipped the AX5-W8R2-01 files

3- Click Select Folder. Virtual Machines. There may be a warning message provided on the import. This
is a warning to suggest you go and review the configuration settings. You should do this to configure the
memory to match your machines hardware. You should review the following settings:

a. Memory: Configure at least 4GB of memory.

b. Processors: The exported configuration is set to 4 processors. You could configure more if you have a
machine capable of this. 4 processors are recommended.

c. Hard Disks: There are 3 VHD files provided with this virtual machine. You can configure these on
different physical disks for additional performance benefits.

d. Network Adapters: The configuration should have 2 network cards configured. You should configure a
private network using the Hyper-V network management and assign this to the first network card. The
second network card doesnt need to be configured to connect to any network unless you want to
connect to the internet

4. When you have finished with the settings start the VM.
