Meaning of International
Relations
It can be stated that International
Relations is the totality of transnational
relations viz, political or non-political,
peaceful or warlike, legal or cultural,
economic or geo-graphic, official or
non-official, formal or informal among
people and group in the world society
at both state and other levels.
Level of Analysis
There are five level of analysis

Individual level of analysis
Sub-National level of analysis
National level of analysis
Regional level of analysis
International level of analysis


Individual Level of Analysis
At Individuals level perceptions, ideas,
biographies of various individuals such
as Presidents, Prime mister, Diplomats,
Ministers, International scholars,
Political Scientist etc are involved.
For Instance,
Mr. Henry Kissinger, Mr. Musharraf, Mr.
Zia-ul-Haq etc.

Sub-National Level of Analysis
At Sub-National level various groups
under the state such as governmental
departments, NGOs etc are involved.
National level of Analysis
At national level of analysis the
decisions and behaviors on the part of
states are involved.
Regional Level of Analysis
At Regional level of analysis different
pacts, alliances, blocks, treaties at
regional levels are involved.
For Instance,
SAARC, NATO, Arab League, EU etc.
International Level of Analysis
In International level of analysis
interactions of states at international
level is involved.
For Instance,
U.N.O
Meaning of International
Relations
Narrow view
According to this International Relations
includes only the official or diplomatic
relations conducted by state officials.
Broader view
According to this International Relations
includes all intercourse among states viz;
social, cultural, diplomatic, political,
diplomatic, movements of masses, goods and
even ideas across trans-national boundaries.
