7:00 to 8:00pm Presentations: Pecha Kucha
Martha's Vineyard Museum knows how to put together a Pecha
Kucha. These 20x20 (twenty slidesx twenty seconds) talks are
inventive, engaging ways to discover process, thinking and
creativity behind some of the Island's best design and art.
8:30pm Performance: Whale Nation
Presented by Wendy Taucher Dance Opera Theater
Written by Heathcote Williams, this hymn to the beauty, intelli-
gence and majesty of the largest mammal on earth, propelled
the green movement into world-wide 'save the whale' eforts.
Thursday 10.24 at Martha's Vineyard Hebrew Center
7pm Performance: An Evening Without
The Arts@MVHC Marthas Vineyard Hebrew Center:
Performance/reading celebrating the works of poets, writers,
scholars and activists excluded from the USA because of their
controversial ideas, including: Emma Goldman, Farley Mowat,
Dario Fo, Pablo Neruda, Nelson Mandela and more.
Readings/performances by Rose Styron, Geraldine Brooks, Jay
Allison, Tony Kahn, Eric Turner, Kate Feifer, Gerry Yukevich, Paula
Lyons, and Alan & Joyce Ganapol. Hosted by Arnie Reisman and
Carol Rose, Executive Director of the ACLU of Massachusetts.
Friday 10.25 at the Harbor View Hotel, Edgartown
7pm Shakespeare for the Masses: Julius Caesar
Presented by The Vineyard Playhouse
A lively staged reading organized and edited by Nicole Galland
and Chelsea McCarthy and performed by a rollicking troupe of
Playhouse actors!
Saturday 10.26 at the Harbor View Hotel, Edgartown
7:30pm Film: Gideon's Army at Harbor View
Presented by Martha's Vineyard Film Festival
Gideon's Army follows the personal stories of three young public
defenders in the Deep South challenging the assumptions that
drive a criminal justice system strained to the breaking point.
This Event $10 at door.
