Strategy Worksheet

Strategy #6
Strategy Name:

Questions Game:

Brief Description (in your own words):

The Questions Game is a strategy to help students acquire self-questioning
strategies. Students develop text-, self-, and world-based questions related to a
specific text. Then they share these questions as part of a class or group discussion
with their peers.

How you plan to use this strategy in your Practicum, Internship, Student
Teaching, or in your own classroom:

After students have completed the assigned reading, they write down three
questions that they have on a colored index card I have provided. When all students
have their questions, they team up with a partner who also has the same color index
card and discuss their questions. From their discussion, I ask them to come up with
three new questions that arose from the discussion. The pairs of students then
exchange questions with another pair of students. I will then ask each group of
students to come up with one new question that is still unanswered or intriguing to
the group. These questions will then be charted and used as discussion during the
remainder of the reading.
