    URINARY COMPLAINTS

    Purpose: To initiate and expedite care from triage for all MEDcare patients based on
    presenting symptoms and agreed upon guidelines.

    Common presenting symptoms sets include:

    Hematuria
    Frequency
    Back Pain
    Dysuria
    Fever
    Abdominal Pain
    Flank Pain
    Nausea/Vomiting


    Procedure:

    1. Escort patient to the restroom for a UA.
    2. Obtain UPT in female of child bearing age.
    3. Place in exam room and have undress to gown.


    Orders:
    UA
    UPT

    Additional Considerations:
    IV,CBC, BMP if hematuria,
    Accu-Check with polyuria
    Anticipate CT renal stone study

    Contraindications:
    X-ray in pregnancy
