Retired man looking for coach/partner to encourage me in exchange for me encouraging you in using our hours and days better. Each week I try to work on daily exercise, swimming, biking: learning (parsha, internet shiurim etc), accomplishing more on my "to-do" list around the house, personal projects, etc etc. The agenda grows and changes. I'm sure you have your own areas you want to be more consistent in accomplishing. Maybe we can encourage each other to stick to our goals. If you feel you can be a amateur personal coach and want someone to do the same for you call 847-602-5982. It has come to our attention that several members of the community have been subject to a phone scam. They get a phone call from an official sounding representative. They begin with a very calm manner and tell them that they are being charged with tax fraud and may be arrested. They claim that they have all the required documentation, witnesses, signed affidavits, and anything else needed for proof. At first you are not offered a chance to pay, but then the caller says that he will ask a supervisor to see that if you pay cash immediately they can accept a lesser fee. The caller begins to scream and gets very aggressive. You may be told that if you do not pay then the police are on the way to your home to arrest you!! Please be aware that this is a SCAM. Do not give any money. If this happens, please call 9-1-1
One of our favorite minhagim on RoshHashana, is, as the song says, to "dip the apple in the honey." However, honey contains spores of the bacterium ClostridiumBotulinum. While this poses no problems for adults, it may cause the serious disease, Infant Botulism, in children less than a year of age. Therefore, children under one-year-old should never be fed honey.
