Dear Mr. Best:
I am interested in applying for the Kindergarten teaching position in your school district posted on
Arizona Education Employment Board. Pioneer Prep goal of embracing the Core Knowledge curriculum as
they prepare students for high school and the world beyond aligns with my own expectations of quality
education. As a 2015 graduate of Arizona State University, I have teaching experience from infant to
preschool, in non-profit organization and Early Head Start programs across the Phoenix Metropolitan
Area. I recently completed my student teaching in kindergarten classes and have obtained my teaching
certification and fingerprint clearance card. I believe I am the candidate to be interviewed to work
collaboratively to meet and exceed the needs of the students with new ideas and enthusiasm for the
teaching profession.
As I looked at your school districts website I immediately was drawn to the statement that At Pioneer
Prep: CFA, we believe that Together, Each Achieves More (T.E.A.M.), and that all children can grow,
learn, and achieve. In addition, the majority of students are identified as English Language Learners
(ELLs) and I have previous experience with reaching the students and parents. Your school focus on The
Core Knowledge Sequence, which enables parents to guide their children towards a higher level of
academic achievement, builds on the teamwork your school promotes. My experience keeping home
language and building on second language vocabulary through pictures and objects is shown in my work
portfolio. I have a comprehensive understanding of child development and am someone who believes in
offering authentic, hands-on learning experiences for young children to create a life-long learner who
understands we need to meet children where they are and uphold family culture as well.
Your school district website says you use the Core Knowledge curriculum which compliments Arizonas
Academic Standards and the national Common Core Standards. During my student teaching, I created
many activities for the children using the Arizonas Academic Standards and aligning them with Teaching
Strategies (TSG). In my work portfolios you will find:
