Welcome to a new school year! My name is Miss Reed and I am new this year at AEA. I will be teaching 6 th , 7 th , and 8 th
grade language arts, as well as 8 th grade math. I wanted to go through the rules and procedures with you that I expect while students are in my classroom. This is the students first assignment and will be due on Friday, August 22 nd
signed by both you and your student. Turned in on Friday will result in 5/5 points, 3/5 on Monday, and 1/5 any day after. In every classroom at AEA, the same four rules will be posted: A.) Use appropriate language and gestures. B.) Be respectful to everyone in the building. C.) Use electronic devices only when directed by a teacher. D.) Follow the school dress code. The above rules are always an expectation no matter where students are in the building, however, the specifics in my room are below. This is the same for both math and language arts. Homework Homework will be given on a regular basis. It will be due the next day and will be partially graded. Homework wont be given in excess amounts for busy work but just enough to reinforce practice. I will pick a few different problems from the homework to grade and this will vary per assignment. Homework wont be overwhelming so late homework will result in a 0. Absence At AEA, the curriculum we teach is online and will come from many hand-outs and notes. For this reason, being in class to take notes is very important. If students miss class, they are responsible for getting the notes from a classmate. Good times to do this are lunch, advisory period at the end of the day, and after school. If for some reason a student cant get the notes, please come to me. Any other work completed in class that day will be in the appropriate basket in our room. Students will have as many days as they missed to complete any absent work. I will advise students who are absent on anything important they have missed and if notes that day happen to be a hand-out I made, they will be in the basket as well. Behavior The above building rules are the same rules that need to be applied in our classroom. Below are the consequences if those rules are broken. Students get a clean slate each day and each class period if in my room for two classes. a.) Warning b.) Seat move c.) Detention after school There will be an end of nine weeks reward (students will vote) for those that do not receive any detentions. I will also reward good behavior with treats, homework passes, and other goodies throughout the year.
