This lesson is produced as an interactive website, it is on nutrition and the
health benefits of a nutritious diet. The lesson is aimed at a year 7
PDHPE class and addresses outcome 4.6 from strand 3 (individual and
community health) of the PDHPE syllabus (Board of studies: NSW,
2013). The website provides learning materials for the duration of a
double period (80 minute lesson) and is divided into sections: The five
food groups, Fruit and Vegetables, Grains and Whole-grains, Lean meat
and Dairy. Each section of the website contains different ICTs including
originally created interactive activities and games, YouTube clips, links
to educational online resource, statistics and games as well as visually
creative imagery and texts which provide relevant information. The
students are free too explore the ICTs and complete the activities them
selves without the assistance or direction from a teacher. Through the
ICTs and activities available on the website the students will learn about
healthy food habits, how to defining healthy foods what the nutritional
requirements are and the relationship between food habits and health
through applying higher order thinking skills. Each section of the website
provides an activity that allows students to express there understanding
and knowledge of that specific food group. The website incorporates the
use of multiliteracies and therefore contains materials and activities that
cater for different types of learners. For example, the interactive games
