FBI Launches Facial Recognition Program
According to Pagliery, the FBI will be launching a facial recognition system that they call the
!e"t #eneration Identification $ytem% this coming &onday' (he system seems to be more than )ust a
facial recognition system however' It will eventually allow officers to be able to identify people based
on their facial features, voice, palm print, and wal*ing stride' A normal traffic stop may soon result in a
fingerprint scan, which will incorporate your fingerprint into the system+s database' $everal complaints
are being made targeting the integrity of citi,ens rights and privacy by using such a system' (he article
states that all -$ police will be re.uired to use the system at least /01 times a day' It seems that
eventually everyone will be able to be easily identified which seems the be a scary thing'2Pagliery,

I ran a search of the FBI+s new facial recognition system on two separate search engines which
included Bing and >ahoo' I found an article using Bing'com titled FBI+s Facial 5ecognition Program

engine, I found an article titled, FBI Facial 5ecognition Database (hat Can Pic* >ou out from a
Crowd in CC(B $hots Is !ow fully 6perational%'2#raaf, &ia De, and &ar* Prigg' 4FBI Facial

opinion, >ahoo served as a better search engine than Bing' It provided me with more precise and
current results' >ahoo+s results also seemed to be more organi,ed than Bing+s results, ma*ing it easier to
navigate through the results'

article relates to the topic of the FBI+s new facial recognition program that will be launched this month'
(he article further discusses the topic and provides facts regarding the program' (he article was written

&ail6nline, which is a online newspaper website' Both writers are .ualified to to write about this topic
based off of their education and training' Prigg attended the -niversity of the Arts London and #raaf is
a member of the Press Association' (he article is supported by evidence from FBI Directors such as
3ames Comey and other members directly involved in the program' (he purpose of the article was to
inform the public of the new program being launched, as well as provides facts on how it will wor*'
(he articles also provides evidence on possible concerns that many have towards the program, which
may possibly cause the article to seem biased'

and distinguish' Also, the articles found using the internet had more valid authors' (he scholarly )ournal
entries were written by other CCBC scholars who may not have had much e"perience or credibility'
