In its simplest form, I think proficiency is competency. To be proficient you must be
adept, skillful, experienced and masterly. I think the connotation of the word proficient is more accomplished than the way it is illustrated the text. I think to be proficient you have to be able to apply knowledge to real-world situations, as the text does state. I think this demonstration is therefore advanced, and the category called advanced should be given another title.
