Course Description:
This Computer Tech course is designed to encourage students to demonstrate creative thinking,
construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology. Units
during this course will include keyboarding, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft
PowerPoint, and the use of other applications effectively and productively.
Course Content Outline:
A. Microsoft Word:
1. Manipulate fonts
2. Copy and paste
3. Manipulate paragraph spacing
4. Insert columns, pictures, tables, and charts
5. Create bulleted and numbered lines
B. Microsoft Excel:
1. Use spreadsheet programs, toolbars, and menus
2. Enter formulas
3. Use Autosum
4. Create Charts
5. Format Charts
C. Microsoft PowerPoint:
1. Create presentations
2. Animate text and objects
3. Create charts and tables
4. Manipulate slides
5. Add pictures, sounds, music, or movies
Evaluations of Students:
Assessment is a way of measuring what students know and defining what is important for
students to learn. It is an integral part of the learning process and occurs throughout instruction.
A variety of alternative assessment methods are used for student evaluation which may include,
but are not limited to the following:

- Teacher observation of student
- Teacher and publisher generated tests and quizzes
- Class participation
- Homework
- Projects
- Demonstrations
- Explorations
- Reports

Classroom Rules:

Since my room is a computer lab the rules for the class are as follows:
1. Any form of food or drinks are prohibited
2. Remain seated throughout the class
3. Raise your hand and wait patiently to be acknowledged
4. Respect each other and the computers

Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information.
A. Plan strategies to guide inquiry
B. Locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a
variety of sources and media
C. Evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on the appropriateness

Standard 4: Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, & Decision Making
