Title: Genetics

This activity would likely be for a high school biology classroom and used in an introductory way.
Activity: The lesson would begin with a short lecture so that basic vocabulary and concepts could be
presented. Within the lecture, video clips would be utilized to interest the students. After the lecture,
students will complete a worksheet to show their understanding of concepts. The graphic
representation of genetic possibility will be described next and the projector along with a game and app
will be used to solidify the new topic. The students then would be given a lab to complete in groups and
be required to present their findings to the class. This activity would likely take two class periods.
Outcome: The students will have a basic understanding of genetics through vocabulary, progression of
genes, and genotypic/phenotypic classifications and be able to hypothesize outcomes of offspring based
on parental genetic makeup.

Access: Multiple means of representation (the chart above)
Information was presented to different styles of learning
Visual, Audio, Tactile, Affective, and Technology can all be used in a lesson to impact learning
Assessment: Multiple means of Action and Expression
Each category has a form of assessment
Written and oral reports, worksheets, and using technology encompass each style
Students would likely have to complete two different forms of assessment so that they may do
what they like, and work on something outside their comfort zone
Engagement: The lab, group work, discussion, games, building a model, drawing the square
