In most cases, dual X-polarized antenna will be used for

4TX deployment
Co-polarized elements will me more correlated with
each other than cross-polarized elements
Additionally, it is important to keep ports 0 and 1
decorrelated, since these ports carry more Reference
Symbols than ports 2 and 3.
This can be achieved by proper cabling to the antenna
inputs.

If in the beginning you start with 2x2 MIMO and SW
upgrade to 4x4 MIMO later on, then common sense
tells that the 2x2 MIMO ports should be connected to
the opposite polarizations.
For best cabling for 4x2, double Cross antenna cabling
(Tx1 Ant1, Tx2 Ant4, Tx3 Ant2, Tx4 Ant3)
provides better results compare to linear. This way get
the maximum decorrelation between the first two
ports.
