A. Day1:Afteradiscussiononpublicart,selectedprinciplesofdesign(balance,
emphasis,andmovement),andaportionofafilmaboutAndyGoldsworthy
(RiversandTides),studentswillbeabletofilloutaworksheetandanswer
questionsonpublicart,principlesofdesign,andAndyGoldsworthy.
B. Day2:AftershowingimagesofworkbyAndyGoldsworthyandplayingagame
usingtheprinciplesofdesigncards,studentswillcreateaworkoutsideusing
natural,foundmaterialsthatusesbalance,emphasisormovement.Aftera
discussionontheimportanceofphotographywithpublicart,studentswilltake
picturesoftheirwork.
C. Day3:AfteranintroductiontoPostSecret,YokoOnosWishTreeandyarn
bombing,studentswillbeabletodesignapromptfortheirtablessecretorwish,
filloutresultsonstripsoffabricandtiethemtoadesignatedtree.
D. Day4:Afteradiscussiononpublicartandtheirtree,studentswillbeinvolvedin
theactofpublicsharingbycollectingwishesandsecretsfromotherclasses
during5thperiodandtiethemtothetree.Afterareviewontheimportanceof
photographywithpublicart,studentswillphotographtheirwork.
E. Day5:Afteradiscussiononvideogamesaspiecesofart,studentswilldesigna
basicgame(level&characterdesign)thataddressesasocialissue.
F. Day6:AfterwatchingExitThroughtheGiftShop(a30minuteclip)andfillingouta
worksheettogoalongwithit,studentswillbeabletodescribeBanksyswork
usingkeyvocabularywordsandtheprinciplesofdesigncardgame.
G. Day7:AfteradiscussionandlookingatimagesofBanksysartisticprocess,
studentswillbeabletotraceapicture,breakingitdownintosimplepositiveand
negativespaces.
H. Day8:Afteradiscussionontheimportanceofplacementinpublicart,students
willbeabletochooseaspacetoalterintheirschoolwithpurpose.Studentswill
writedownwhytheyarechoosingthisspaceandhowtheyaregoingtoalterit
usingtheirartwork.Studentswillthenmakeapositive/negativedrawingon
acetateforthisspace,reviewingthetechniquefromthepreviousday.
