Hello everyone! How is everyone doing

main swimming strokes today we are going
to do some review outside of the water. We
are also going to learn about goal setting. If
at any point today I say, Give me 5! please
put 5 fingers up in the air, stop what you

INTRODUCTORY (WARM UP) ACTIVITY

We are going to play an activity called rock,
paper, and scissors.
Pair the students up into groups of two.
Line them up on the base line facing each
other. They are going to use their legs and
do rock, paper, scissors. They are going to
hop up and down saying rock, paper, and
scissors. If they land with their feet
together it is rock. If they land with their
feet apart horizontally it is paper. If they
land with their feet apart vertically it is
scissors. Rock beats scissors, paper beats
rock and scissors beats paper. If a person
looses they run to the other baseline and
back. This time instead of waiting for your
partner they go find another partner and
the people running have to find new
partners. So there is no waiting the
students are constantly finding new
partners.

Form a line
Fold line to find partners

Demonstrate where everyone can see

LESSON FOCUS
ANTICIPATORY SETCan someone please show me what the
main strokes are that we have learned in
class? What are some important parts to
each stroke? Where can you swim these
strokes? Why is swimming a good form of
exercise?

Back, Breast, Fly, Free

Kicks, breathing, arms
Pool, beach, lake
Easy on joints, lifelong activity,
improve all aspects of fitness.

Has anyone ever set a goal before? What?

Did you have a plan to accomplish the goal?
Goal setting is a very good way to
accomplish something and challenge
yourself. There are 4 main parts to a
goalThe goal should be challenging,
attainable, realistic, and specific. You can
make short or long term goals depending on
what you want to do. It is important to let
friends and family know your goals so they
can be supportive. Goals can be health
related, grade related, and many others.
What should you do with your goals? Write
them down? Memorize them? You should
write your goals down and put them
someplace where you can always look at
them so you can remind yourself.

APPLIED ACTIVITY- Now that we have

reviewed the strokes we are going to do
some exercises outside of the water that
will help you with your strokes. Each of
these exercises will improve your fitness
and body positioning in the water. While
doing these exercises keep in mind stroke
technique and try to do them the right way.
There are picture at each station that you
can refer to. Please go toe-to-toe with a
partner. When I say go choose a station
that someone has not already picked and
we will begin! You will spend about a
minute at each station and listen to me to
say, switch. I will walk around if anyone
has any questions. Can everyone please
grab a piece of equipment and put it away,
then meet me in the middle.

Describe activity

goals. On your piece of paper I want you to
set 3 goals. They could be go swimming 3
days a week, do 50 crunches a day, make 5
new friends this year, or an apple every day.
Does anyone want to share their goals?

2 minutes

LESSON CLOSURE- Did everyone enjoy the

activities today? Were there any parts that
challenged you? Can someone tell me what
they think some of the main parts of each
stroke are? Which strokes do you like the
best and why? Why is goal setting
important? How should you make your
goals? Great job today everyone! Next
time we will participate in some other
fitness activities! When I say, Go! please
line up behind ___________ and follow
