Art History: Monet
My influencing artist was Monet. I was inspired by his art because of the cool techniques
that he used. For example, the small brush strokes in his paintings were very beautiful. I also
loved how he liked to paint the outdoors and use pastel colors. My favorite painting of his was
the skyline on the front cover of the book because it sets a really calm mood.
My artwork was similar to Monets because I too painted the outdoors and tried to
emphasis my brushstrokes. I attempted to capture his style (impressionism) in my painting as
well as his purpose (which was to create people to be in a natural state of wonder).
I think Monet would have liked this painting for the most part because it was so similar
to his style. I do believe I could have done smaller brushstrokes and more pastel colors, but
over-all it was a good impression of Monets work.
