Food & Fund Drive Checklist Thank you for your interest in coorating ¢ food and/or fund drive to help alleviate hunger in our community. Here are some helpful hints to maximize your contribution: oS Preparation © Decide what type of drive you want to have—are you collecting food, funds or both? © Decide on a drive length and goal. KLF recommends that drives last at least two to three weeks fo collect a substantial amount of food and/or funds. Decide on a collection method: Boxes are perfect for any food ctive that generates 300 Ibs. of food or less. KLF can provide large boxes and a poster for decoration’ @ Large fiber barrels hold up to 150 Ibs. of food each, and larger mefal crates for more sizable food drives are also available. ‘Inform KLF of the food drive so that we can provide collection receptacles. KLF provided food assistance to an average of 740 individuals per service day KLF distributed more than 2.3 million meals to hungry residents of Kalamazoo County KLF served nearly 140,000 four-day food orders through its Grocery Pantry Program Since 1982 Lixo) Manto) Mae ale 4 years, Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes has been the primary food assistance provider in Kalamazoo County. KLF offers food assistance at more than 20 panity sites throughout Kalamazoo County through our Grocery Pantry Program. In total, we offer supplemental food assistance at more than 60 sites in our community through our many innovative programs. Fresh produce or high-nutrition items are sometimes difficult to acquire, and these items that are donated by local businesses, farms, individuals and other community-based groups are critical in our efforts to buid on active and healthy future for Kalamazoo County. S ; =s Cash Donations Cash donations allow us to keep our panity shelves stocked, our freezers cool and Our trucks on the road five days a week. They also support innovative programs gimed at alleviating local hunger. Most importanily, monetary contributions allow us to take advantage of our pennies-on-the-pound purchasing power through our connection with Feeding America and the Food Bank of South Central Michigan. For every dollar donated, KLF can purchase about $10.00 worth of food. With just $1, we can provide an individual with three meals through our Grocery my | | | i Pantry Program.
