The Five Precepts

Understand what the 5 precepts are.
Give examples of the 5 precepts.
Evaluate how they help Buddhists lead
a life without suffering.

INVESTIGATE:
When a person becomes a
Buddhist they promise to follow
the 5 precepts. A precept is a rule
or guide to show you how to live.
The 5 precepts are
Avoid harming living things
To take only when offered
Avoid improper sexual activity
Avoid improper speech (lies and
gossiping)
Avoid alcohol and drugs
You have been given a card with one
precept. Write down an example.

Which of the precepts do you think would be


the most difficult for you to live by?
Give a short explanation
to your answer.

EVALUATE:
Think of 5 rules that you would like to
introduce into the school.
Draw a table in your book with two columns.
