Subject : Boarding school experience
Hi, Salina, how is everyone at home? I miss home a lot especially Mums tom
yam soup. However, I am beginning to adjust to life away from home. My
freinds and teachers help me with my studies and show me around the hostel.
Studying in a boarding school is different. I have to be more organised and
disciplined. The schedule is tight so I have very little time for myself. After
school, I have group discussions. In the evenings, we have sports practice. We
have tests every month and assignments every week. I have to manage my time
well or I will not be able to rest or have fun anymore.
Besides that, I have to be more independent too. I have to make sure my
room is clean, wash my own clothes and buy my own meals. Mum used to do
that for me. Now I am learning to appreciate more of the things I used to take for
granted before. I am also learning to get along with different types of people as
the hostel is shared by many students.
Although it is tough, I am having fun learning all these and experiencing
new situations. I have to go now, please send my regards to everyone at
home.Bye !

Class Outing at A Nature Park
Last weekend, our class went on a two-day camp to the Rimba Nature
Resort in Pahang. We were very excited as we got off the bus that took us to the
resort bungalow at the edge of the jungle. Behind it were huge trees casting
morning shadow over the whole area. We registered at the reception reception
area and then took our bags to the four dormitories allocated to us. Two of the
dormitories were for the girls and the other two were for the boys. There were
five bunk beds in each dormitory and we quickly chose our beds. Some of us
climbed onto the upper bunks while others took the lower ones. After storing our
bags, we went down to the dining room where a buffet breakfast had been
prepared for us.
Then, we set off on the first activity of the day-jungle trekking. Our guide,
Awan led us down a narrow path into the jungle. He told us to stay close and not
leave the path.We soon came to a river. Across it was a rope bridge. As we
walked down the rope bridge, it swayed slowly from side to side. We got across
safely and set up camp at the clearing on the other side. We went trekking and
swam happily in the river. We returned to the resort in the evening. We relaxed
for a while after waiting for our baths. We were very lucky when the resort staffs
helped us light a campfire on the ground. Later, we had barbecue dinner
together by the moonlight. After dinner, we sat around the campfire singing
songs and chatting.
The next morning, we went to the river again. We rowed down the
river and swam for a while. We had a barbecue lunch before returning to the
resort. After packing up, we boarded the bus for our trip home. We had a
wonderful outing at the jungle resort that weekend. Not only we had fun but we
also gained useful knowledge about nature.
