Novels Identity Book Assignment

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be digital (Weebly will be your best bet)
2. Homepage must include a photo of you and your final
iPhilosophy
3. Must include labeled and organized tabs; each tab must lead
somewhere
4. Minimum of five written pieces with creative titles (two per novel,
except Frankenstein) are required
5. Minimum of five visuals (one per written piece) are required; for
extra credit (+5 points max) create one visual as a digital story
PERSONAL ESSAYS:
Since this is an English class, your essays should be in MLA format.
Each entry must be at least one, full page in length and no more
than two. No essay should be one, long paragraph, but a group of
paragraphs organized around a central theme/idea.
Each written entry must
Begin every piece with a focused claim about the writers
identity after having read a text: Like Oskar in Extremely Loud
and Incredibly Close, my life/identity has been significantly
impacted by
Focus on the writer as a unique person whose identity is
different from other people
Begin with an introduction paragraph, contain at least one body
paragraph, and a conclusion paragraph
Be free of spelling errors
Be carefully edited to eliminate fragments and run-ons
Be written in formal language, avoiding slang (like contractions)
and overused clichs such as She is always there for me
Be rich in examples and specific details
Be unique; no two entries should be similar
GRADING:
Your grade for the final digital portfolio will be based on the following:
a. Readability: the text is consistent and easy to read
b. Color and contrast: choice of colors makes portfolio readable
c. Navigation: links are logical, consistent, and effective
d. Multimedia: images, sound, and video are appropriate
integrated
e. Attribution: images, sound, and video are correctly attributed

Your grade for the final written entries will be based on the following:
a. Unified focus
b. Proper formatting (MLA is required)
c. Spelling
d. Mechanics
e. Language
f. Thoughtful and reflective analysis
An A entry is: interesting, imaginative, has a strong, personal voice,
and very few mechanical errors. Topics of an A Identity Paper focus on
the writers identity and how he/she is different from other students in
the class.
A B entry is: safe, has entries much like other students, does not
reflect extensive preparation, has mechanical errors, predictable, and
lacks self-exploration.
A C entry is: lacking in imagination, dull, boring, shallow, weak in
voice, superficial, lacks details, and is repetitive.
A D entry is: lacking in the basic components of the assignment.
Your grade for the final visual interpretations will be based on the
following:
Images, sound, and video embellishes the focused claim in each
essay
For extra credit (+5 points max), make one visual interpretation
a digital story
Overall Presentation:
Finally, the Identity Book is a trimester project. Therefore, the Identity
Book should be the result of a considerable amount of time and effort.
Identity Books, which appear to have been assembled in a weekend,
may receive lower grades than Identity Books, which (obviously) are
products of extensive time and effort.
