MC COOK SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

73-0017-001

Description provided by the School Building

McCook High School, with a certificated staff of 40, is the main building in the McCook Public Schools for grades 9-12. It has an
average enrollment of 530 (including students at the Alternative Education site). The total mobility is moderate and it has small
ethnicity numbers. The high school reflects the community in its relative stability of population, high expectations of achievement and
performance, and sense of pride. A partnership between McCook Community College and McCook High School allows students from
MHS to take college credit classes allowing dual credits for graduation requirements at both institutions.

Improvement Goals provided by the School Building

McCook Senior High School Improvement Goals were reviewed and updated during the 2008-2009 school year. They are congruent
with the district goals. The goals are based on assessment data and are focused on student achievement. 1. Students PreK-12 will
improve content area vocabulary comprehension to an 80% proficiency level using specific skills and strategies. 2. Maintain our
students' proficiency level at 50% according to the Nebraska Student Competencies in Technology scale. Additional High School
Technology Goal: Students effectively communicate and work collaboratively to support individual learning and establish critical
thinking skills. Specific strategies have been designed and implemented, based on building data and research, to positively impact
student performance.
