This training will be delivered face-to-face.

Total Time Allotment

3 1.5 hour Instructional Sessions.


These sessions will be held over a weekend luncheon.

Instructional Module/Training Plan


Goal

The student will have a working knowledge of the Affordable


Care Act.

Two Performance-Based Objectives

Participants will be able to define the Affordable Care Act.


Participants will be able to describe the ramifications of not
having coverage.
Participants will be able to navigate to the healthcare.gov
website.
Participants will be able to compare three plans on the
healthcare.gov website.
Participants will recount three resource locations to gain
further knowledge about the Affordable Care Act.
Participants will identify 3 ways the Affordable Care Act
impacts their lives.

Summative Assessment Description


Students will be asked to complete a questionnaire/quiz at the
completion of class. The completion of this questionnaire will
demonstrates students understanding of the affordable care act.
A two week follow up communication will be performed to
determine what participants have done with this knowledge.

Part II: Development
Attention Getter
Community Health
At tables in groups; participants will be given monopoly
money and colored cards (some tables will have
toothpicks). On another table will be toothpicks.
- Each table will be give different instructions about the
game. These instructions will have objectives each
participant has to meet. Some tables will be given
more detailed instructions others will only have less.
- Some of these objectives will be group based (For
example; everyone must have a toothpick,
everyone with a blue marker must have two
toothpicks).
- Participants will be told this is an activity to build
community and get to know some of the other
participants at the training.
- Participants will be told they cannot ask the facilitator
questions.
At the end of the activity participants will be asked for their
insights on communication and understanding.
After this activity some brief facts will be provided to build
participants understanding of healthcare demands and
finances of healthcare.
- Participants will then be asked to circle the room to
stop at several different poster boards and answer
the questions on each. This will help get a better
idea where participant knowledge level currently is.
