1. What is the Creative Commons and how does it provide a different way of
protecting your work?
The Creative Commons are a nonprofit organization that gives free legal use of creativity
and knowledge tools. If you allow your work to be shared, then they Creative Commons
protects you from copyrights.
3. Discuss the following terms as they relate to The Creative Commons Licenses
Attribution
the process by which individuals explain the causes of behavior and events.
Share Alike
A copyright licensing term, originally used by the Creative Commons project, to describe
works or licences that require copies or adaptations of the work to be released under the
same or similar licence as the original.
Non Commercial
refers to an activity or entity that does not, in some sense, involve commerce, at least
relative to similar activities that do have a commercial objective or emphasis.
No Derivative Works
work based upon the Work or upon the Work and other pre-existing works, such as a
translation, musical arrangement, dramatization, fictionalization, motion picture version,
sound recording, art reproduction, abridgment, condensation, or any other form in which the
Work may be recast, transformed, or adapted, except that a work that constitutes a
Collective Work will not be considered a Derivative Work for the purpose of this License.
For the avoidance of doubt, where the Work is a musical composition or sound recording,
the synchronization of the Work in timed-relation with a moving image ("synching") will be
considered a Derivative Work for the purpose of this License.

Definitions;
Copy right- the exclusive right to make copies, license, and otherwise exploit a literary,
musical, or artistic work, whether printed, audio, video, etc.

Trademark- any name, symbol, figure, letter, word, or mark adopted and used by a
manufacturer or merchant in order to designate his or her goods and to distinguish them
from those manufactured or sold by others. A trademark is a proprietary term that is usually
registered with the Patent and Trademark Office to assure its exclusive use by its owner.
Intellectual property- rights that are legally recognized exclusively to creations of the mind.
Infringement- a breach or infraction, as of a law, right, or obligation; violation; transgression.

Patent- the exclusive right granted by a government to an inventor to manufacture, use, or


sell an invention for a certain number of years.
Royalty- a compensation or portion of the proceeds paid to the owner of a right, as a patent
or oil or mineral right, for the use of it.
Public domain- the status of a literary work or an invention whose copyright or patent has
expired or that never had such protection.
Tariff- an official list or table showing the duties or customs imposed by a government on
imports or exports.
Fair use- A limitation and exception to the exclusive right granted by copyright law to the
author of a creative work.
