Stage 3 Learning Plan

Materials:
3x5 cards, and pens or pencils
Computers, iPads, and iPhones with internet access and Aurasma installed
Bibles
Information sheets with scripture passages and instructions for Aurasma
Opening example on Aurasma.
Introduction(Hook):
When you take a selfie, what do you see?
Have students look at themselves in an iPhone or iPad. Ask them to write 5 words
on a 3x5 card that would describe themselves to someone else.
Ask students to write a: + beside all positive words; - beside all negative words;
A beside all activity words; R beside all relationship words; P beside the
personality words or Ph beside the physical aspect words.
The words youve chosen to describe yourself may say something about your mevision, the way you see yourself. Is your list mostly positive or negative? Do you

mostly describe yourself using activities, relationships, personality, or physical

aspects? What does this say about your me-vision?
Today, we will look in the Bible to see what God says about us to help us answer
Why am I valuable? We will read about our value to Him and how this affects us
and the way we see ourselves and others.
Show the teacher made Aurasma describing the product assignment.

Product:
You will have the opportunity to create an Aura using Aurasma Studio, too.
You will create a digital video of your response to Why am I valuable? and overlay
it onto a written page that says I am valuable because
Your Aura will include:
-A phrase or phrases that complete, I am valuable because
-A video capturing you, a snapshot, a drawing or an open Bible while you
say these phrases
-An aura using the video overlaid onto a written page saying I am valuable
because
Procedure:
Step 1: Read at least 3 of these scripture passages printed on your hand out. You
may read them from a Bible or an online source such as Biblegateway.com using
Google.
Genesis 1:27,31
Ecclesiastes 3:11-14
Psalm 8:4-8
Luke 12:7
I John 3:1-3

Psalm 139:13-16
Isaiah 43:1
I John 4:9-10
Ephesians 3:16-19
Galatians 3:26-29

Step 2: Discuss the question, Why am I valuable? with the members of your
group. Formulate a personal answer to this question.

Step 3: Make a 30 second or less video clip finishing the phrase I am valuable
because.
You may take video of yourself speaking. Or, you may take video with your voice
behind a shot of the open Bible, or another picture or drawing relating to your
response.

Step 4: Write the phrase, I am valuable, because on a piece of paper.

Step 5: Create an aura of your response to the question Why am I valuable? using
the Aurasma Studio. Detailed instructions are on the hand out.

Step 6: Share auras with the whole group. Discus what it means to be valued by
God and how this should affect our value of others.

Aurasma Studio Teacher Demo:

1. Teacher will make an 8x11 poster saying I am valuable, because and attach it to
bulletin board near area of discussion.
2. To demonstrate the product the students will be making, show the teacher made
demo of Aurasma Studio to the class just after the opening using the app and the
poster.
3. Aura Demo Script: Hello! This is an example of an Aura made with the Aurasma
Studio app. In groups, you will be using this app to produce an effect just like this.
This is called Augmented Reality. In your Aura, you will reflect on the question,
Why am I valuable? To prepare, you will research Bible passages and see what
God says about your value. Enjoy! Good-bye!
4. This aura will be a view of the teacher speaking as an overlay on the poster from
point 1, above.
Differentiation and Supports:
Students will work in groups for support through peer-tutoring during research,
reflection, and creating the product.
Students are given choices in research by using google, Biblegateway.com, or
reading a Bible in book form.
Students are given choices in producing their video by photographing themselves or
another object or picture while speaking.
Students will see an example of an Aurasma in the teacher demo.
Students will have an information sheet that will describe the process of their
assignment clearly.

Handout:
A teacher made Information Sheet will be given to each student with detailed
instructions from the Bible passages to choose from to the steps to follow in using the
Aurasma Studio app. (Note: This hand out is shown above.)
