Taste buds are

located on the
tongues papillae,
and are
responsible for
detecting the five
element of taste
perception: sweet,
salty, bitter, sour,
and umami.

The bronchioles
are tubes in the
lungs through
which air passes to
the alveoli.
Bronchioles branch
of the the bronchi,
and are part of the
conducting zone of
the respiratory
system.
They
predominately
consist of smooth
muscle lined with
epithelium.

SUBLINGUAL GLAND
The sublingual glands
are major salivary
glands, located
beneath the tongue.
They provide 3-5% of
the total salivary
volume.

The trachea connects

the pharynx and larynx
to the lungs, allowing
the passage of air. It is
lined with an epithelium
that has goblet cells
that produce mucins
and cilia that help
remove bacteria and
debris.

COLON

The colon (large

intestine) removes
water, salt, and some
nutrients and forms
stool. Muscles line
the colon's walls,
squeezing its
contents along.
Bacteria coat the
colon and its
contents.

3. Lamina propria
The upper portion
contains the upper
esophageal sphincter
(UES), which is a bundle
of muscles at the top of
the esophagus. The
muscles of the UES are
under conscious control,
used when breathing,
eating, belching, and
vomiting. They keep food
and secretions from
going down the windpipe.
