Summary:
Goal #1- Continued improvement on classroom management skills to enhance
efficiency and optimal learning
I feel I was successful in achieving this goal. Although very challenging at times,
my grade 9 Physical Education class allowed my to implement new classroom
management techniques such as wait time, reinforcing appropriate behavior, and
using higher level responses. I also made an effort to get to know each individual to
help establish a positive classroom environment and foster mutual respect. I feel I
was successful in improving my classroom management skills and that my teaching
became more effective and student learning became more efficient.
Goal #2- Get involved in extracurricular activities, specific to athletics
I definitely got the full physical education teacher experiences here at Picture
Butte High School. I got involved with organizing and implementing intramurals,
coached Junior High Varsity Boys Basketball, and coached High School Senior Girls
Basketball. I also volunteered my time by taking pictures at the High School
volleyball tournament and helped facilitate the Junior High volleyball tournament. I
feel I was highly successful in achieving this goal.
Goal #3- Establish positive relationships with the students and staff at Picture
Butte High School as well as the community.
Being involved in extra-curricular activities really helped me to establish
relationships with staff and students at Picture Butte High School. The staff was
appreciative when I was available to cover their classes and I always went out of my
way to say hello to fellow teachers. The staff at Picture Butte High School often
described me as positive, outgoing, and friendly. I took time to speak with
individual students about their interests and hobbies and they would often come
talk to me about personal issues. It truly made my day when I would see a student in
the hall and theyd yell WIEBE and give me a high-five. I felt that I opened
communication with the parents by calling home for successes and areas of
improvement. Overall, I feel I met this goal and am hopeful these relationships will
live longer then just my practical semester.
