When one becomes an educator or teacher they will face some challenges that can make
them rethink about why they chose that profession. But after realizing the reason they chose this
profession was because they wanted to see children success and ultimately feel the satisfaction
that comes from that. Some of the challenges I believe I will face as a Physical Education
teacher would be childhood obesity. Now a days children do not know how to eat healthy and be
physically fit for their age. It upsets me when I see obese children struggle or out of breath
during a simple and easy cardio activity. I think another challenge would be to see adolescent
children having no desire to better their lives by being physically active. If I could make that
breakthrough with both of those ages of children I believe I will obtain that satisfaction that I
would strive for each and every day.
With being a teacher there are a lot of responsibilities that one must obtain and abide by.
When I am a physical education teacher the responsibilities that I will have to follow will be
similar to other teacher but it will not be the same. My responsibilities will vary but the one that
I will uphold to the most would be to make sure every child receives a healthy physical
education experience as well as learning lesson on how to live healthy. If I could plant this seed
into their daily lives they will more likely succeed in the real world. Some of the other
responsibilities that I will have to attend to would be to add other subject into my curriculum
such as writing, English, math, and etc. By doing this the children will not only receive that core
subject in the classroom but also during a physical education time. Even though I will base my
responsibilities on what I think the classroom needs there are still responsibilities from other that
I will have to follow. For example, I will need to follow TEKS and any state mandated rules and
regulations that I will follow. After I follow the state regulations and responsibilities I will need

to follow the schools, community, and town. If I do not set rules and responsibilities or if I do
not follow them I could lose my job and ultimately the chance to change a students life. With
all of these regulations that are made to be followed they must come from a hierarchy of the
school, community, or system.
The hierarchy of the school system would be how the school system is run. In a school
the principal is directly on top. Under him/her are two main categories of staff, the academic and
the administrative staff. The academic staff is responsible for curriculum operation while the
administrative helps the academic staff in the conduct of various activities by acquiring and
providing various materials and other resources and facilities needed for smooth conduct of
different activities. There is also a vice-principal that may be under to help the principal but it
depends on the school. The vice-principal are supervisors of various departments namely
science, business and arts. Below the supervisors are the teaching staff. The teaching staff is
required to meet the needs of all children as well as state regulations.
When looking towards teaching as a profession there are pros and cons. The cons for
teaching is that your income salary is really low. Since your salary is low some of the materials
that you need in the class will come out of your own pocket. The working hours are long and
tedious to which you may have to bring your work home with you. Finally there is a high level
of stress that deals with this job no matter what age level you are teaching. For the pros, you get
this sense of fulfillment when a child succeeds. You get a decent amount of vacation like the
winter and summer. You receive respect from the parents of the children you are teaching as
well as the community. You receive benefits towards your health. Finally since I will be a
physical education teacher I think my job will never be boring because I will be teaching
children to be physically active.

In the classroom today teacher will experience a wide range of diversity. Diversity can
range from race to gender all the way to social status. One must be able to learn how to adapt to
any type of diverse group he or she will be faced with. In my content area I may face a sense of
race as well as social status, for example some children may not be able to afford tennis shoes to
wear to my class. If this were to ever occur in my classroom I would most likely try to find a
solution to the problem by asking the childrens parents if they will allow their children to have
tennis shoes so that he or she may be able to participate in physical activity without having to sit
out and possibly get made fun of. I may also face the on growing issue of obesity among
children. Since children are so harsh and do not understand the consequences towards their
actions they may upset a child due to their harsh words or actions towards that overweight or
obese child. I think if I could just show children how to become physically active and help them
to want to live a healthy life then I see no reason why a child should be embarrassed towards
trying to better themselves.
The scope of the teaching profession includes disciplines, levels, settings, and roles of the
professional educator. When dealing with scope I think of the type of curriculum that a teacher
must follow throughout the whole school year. But there are many more things that deal with
scope in the teaching profession. One of the things that stand out to me would be the roles of the
professional educator. When I hear this I think that the role is the job of the professional
educator. His or her job is to educate children in the content area that they are certified in.
Another aspect that sticks out is discipline. This is a major role in my future teaching. A teacher
must sit ground rule with a sense of discipline if he/she doesnt establish this base on the first day
of school then their entitlement as a teacher or educator is jeopardized.

For the diverse student population most towns or city tend to have youth programs that
children participate in. Also there are some youth service programs like Boys and Girls Club
and YMCA that children can enroll in near their town or city. But for school services there are a
variety of programs that the diverse student population may participate in, for example an after
school tutoring program. Children may use this time after school to do homework or receive
extra learning time from an instructor or elder student. For those students who are handicapped
they will be accommodated with all the school materials needed to service them on a daily basis.
Finally for those students who do not speak English there are English learning programs that
help assist those learning the English language. With having these types of programs teachers
can create a curriculum that can assist those students. In todays classroom the curriculum is
very different from curriculum from years past. Teachers are adding more and more technology
into their lesson plans. Since children are becoming more advanced with technology we as a
teaching society have to accommodate that and teaching with those learning materials. So with
having this type of learning and educating a teachers role is never done or overused. Their role
is to help educate our future generations so they may teach their own someday.
My current knowledge of legal responsibilities of a teacher is very little. I know that
teachers must have to deal with state mandated rules and regulations that they must follow or
they could be in serious trouble. I also know that they have a confidentiality agreement among
each child and their parent/guardian. If this is broken one could easily lose their job and
ultimately their dream job. With being a teacher one should have the skill of organization. If a
teacher is organized it will only make things easier for them to keep track paperwork. A teacher
must also be able to personable with their colleagues as well their students. If the students find
you off putting then they will most likely be scared to learn.

Teachers should have a great relationship with other teachers as well as administrators.
Ultimately the administration can make or break a job of a teacher or and other teaching staff.
The relationships should be a positive and learning one. The teacher should follow any needs
that the administration wishes to pursue towards the students of that school. If the teacher
succeed then the administration succeeds. When a school succeeds the government will most
likely notice and possibly help out with any funding that could benefit the school into
progressing more and more students to succeed and find their dreams.
My dream is to one day teach others my values and morals of life. This type of teaching
deals with the philosophy of idealism. Idealism deals with the thought process and the reasoning
behind the task. So with being a teacher I can share that knowledge with my students and hoping
they too can use this belief in their educational years. Another belief I know that will be used
throughout my classroom and curriculum would be existentialism. Existentialism is the belief
that emphasizes the existence of the individual person as a free and responsible agent
determining their own development through acts of the will. In my classroom each student has a
right to do what they wish with their own body, mind, and soul. Their outcome could hurt or
help but it solely depends on them. So when I become a teacher my commitment to being a great
and successful teacher is very high because I love being able to teach others who have a passion
for learning. Since I too have a passion towards knowledge and learning I hope to one day help
children expand their minds to wanting to learn about what his world has to offer them.
