Purlin spacing should suit end laps required for the
size of sheet tobeused
Parlin spacing should not exceed 1400 mm for Roof
and 1700 mm forwall
4 Sheets should be laid with smooth side facing the sky.
@ LAPS - side lap : half a corrugation (min.); end lap:
150mm (min.)

Sheets are normally laid from form Left to Right,
starting at the eaves. (See fig.2)
4% Atanyjointwhere four sheets meet the first sheet laid
and the last sheet laid remain uncut. Whereas, the
two "inbetween" sheetsare tobe cut or mitred.
4 Allpurlins should be one plane and parallel to each
other. They should be properly anchored to the
supporting superstructure,
MITRING : Where four corners of sheets meet at lap the
intermediate two sheets must be mitred to ensure a snu
This prevents rain water from leaking through roof. Itis cut,
froma point 15 mm (min.) up the vertical side of sheets and
half a corrugation i.e., 40 mm (min.) along its horizontal
edge. This cutting must be done with an ordinary wood saw.
# Ends of all sheets should be supported by purlins. The
‘maximum free overhang at the eaves should notexceed
300mm,
@ 8mm diameter (min) hook bolts, crank bolts or coach
screws, should be inserted through 10 mm diameter
drilled holes - NEVER PUNCHED - in the crown of the
corrugation. A bitumen washer must be used under the
GL. washer.
@ One bolt or screws should be used on each side of lap
(See fig. 2a)
Nuts or screw should be tightened lightly at first, and
then tightened again when adozen or more sheetshave
been laid. At intermediate purlins, it should not be
tightened in any attempt to make the sheet rest on the
urlins.
A cat - ladder or roof board should always be used by men
‘working on the roof for safety of worksmen, roofing sheets
and accessories. To calculate number and length of nuts,
boltsand washers required at each purlin.
