Brief Description of Learning Experience: ELACCKRL1 & ELACCKRL3 Students will listen to video posted on classroom blog by the
teacher as homework. Students may need assistance from a parent or guardian at home. The video includes a small clip of Eric Litwin actively
reading and singing the book, Pete the Cat I Love my White Shoes. After watching the video, students will make predictions of how the story will
end. The student will present their thoughts to the class in a format of drawing a picture and including a sentence describing their picture (template
will be provided on classroom blog) the next school day. The lesson would be concluded with reading the rest of the book, Pete the Cat I Love my
White Shoes, to the class.
Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: Strong indicators of engaged learning includes standard-based content, challenging learning
goals, authentic and multi-disciplinary learning tasks. This idea would be a LoTi Level 4, Integration. The students use technology and the
technology is central to classroom instruction such as homework. Students are addressing high levels of Blooms Taxonomy and the lesson is
student directed. There is a strong sense of real world application through this assignment.
Importance of technology: Students are responsible for watching a video on MovieMaker about the author Eric Litwin. The movie is easy
accessibly having the movie posted on classroom blog. Each student is able to make predictions of how they think the story will end on the
provided template. This project could not be completed without the use of technology; therefore, a video would not be able to be shown.
Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Some possible issues surrounding Internet safety and student privacy that could arise while implementing
this learning experience are slim, though could happen. The video would be posted on the classroom blog. At the beginning of the year, teachers
may inform parents of the importance of the classroom blog and may suggest bookmarking the site allowing easy access, preventing risks and
alleviating fears all following Internet safety and acceptable use policies.
