Body Language

Humans are full of emotions that come as roller coasters or pass by like trains. They are
hard to control because of their grapple hold over us. With these emotions we communicate with
one another through verbal and nonverbal ways. But do the words from our mouth mean
anything or does the way we say it matter more? I believe that it is our body language that
communicates with others our true wants, needs and desires. We all have that extra sense, that
looks for signs and signals the body radiates, to let us know how they are feeling. Through the
bodies 5 senses, we feel, hear, see, smell, and taste the different forms of communication people
present to us. But without our 6th sense do they even matter?
Google says the definition of Body Language is the process of communicating
nonverbally through conscious or unconscious gestures and movements. In other words, the
body signals are clues, read to us through our general understanding of signs. But do these signs
define us? Philip Yaffe did an experiment on the way sale reps sell items. He concluded that 7
percent of their credibility assessment came from their words, 38 percent from their tone of
voice, and 55 percent from the speaker's body language. The sound of our voice outweighs the
words we say. What our young students have learned to be so important, was really nonsense put
into a cluster and defined as a language.
Body language is a diverse method our society uses to better express ourselves. Our
upbringing defines us, because without it we would not be the people we are today. Since our
backgrounds are different sometimes it is easier to express ourselves through hand gestures that
are universal than with words. A wise man once said words are mesely an echo, from our
voice , in the sense that babies do not speak for the first year of their life. They squirm around
when they are bored, scream when they are hungry, and sleep when they are tired. Is it not okay
to say we can do without words? Around 40 million of the world's population doesnt
communicate with words. When walking into a job interview, your body language allows for
your interview to classify you. An individual's clothe has a great impact on the way others
portray you, but a man that walks with attributes of success is priceless.

Comment [3]: I believe there should be
an apostrophe at the end of bodies since
you are talking about possesion.

Comment [4]: Maybe say "do the other
five even matter?" instead of using they...

I analyzed three videos that I thought were key in explaining the genre body language:
WHY YOU ASKING ALL THEM QUESTIONS, Your body language shapes who you are
and The difference between the European and African-American dance style. Even though the
first video has several sub-genres, it uses body language to address them by using common
moves a Bitchy girl would do. The second one brings a diverse approach to body language
because of its intellectual take on the reactions living organisms have, based on their emotions. I
placed the last video into this genre because children are a symbol for innocence. They move,
talk, eat and have fun, with no care in the world. Even though these genres differ in many ways,
their defiance of their genre constraints, allows for a unification.

Comment [10]: "Clothes have..." ???
