The Grinch Who Stole Christmas

Narrator: Anna
Grinch: Logan
Who 1: Keri
Who 2: Ali
Who 3: Crystal
ALL: Every Who down in Who-ville liked Christmas a lot
Who 1 (Keri): But the Grinch, who lived just north of Who-ville, Did NOT!
Who 2 (Ali): The Grinch hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season! Now, please
dont ask why. No one quite knows the reason.
Who 3 (Crystal): It could be his head wasnt screwed on just right.
Who 1 (Keri): It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight.
Who 2 (Ali): But I think that the most likely reason of all may have been that his
heart was two sizes too small.
Who 3 (Crystal): But, whatever the reason, his hear or his shoes, he stood there on
Christmas eve, hating the Whos.
Who 1 (Keri): Staring down from his cave with a sour, Grinchy frown at the warm
lighted windows below in their town. For he knew every Who down in Who-ville
beneath was busy now, hanging a mistletoe wreath.
Grinch (Logan): And theyre hanging their stockings!
Narrator (Anna): He snarled with a sneer
Grinch (Logan): Tomorrow is Christmas! Its practically here!
Who 2 (Ali): Then he growled, with his Grinch fingers nervously drumming,

Grinch (Logan): I MUST find some way to stop Christmas from coming!
Who 3 (Crystal): For tomorrow, he knew
Who 1 (Keri): All the Who girls and boys would wake bright and early. Theyd rush
for their toys, and then
Who 2 (Ali): Oh, the noise! Oh the noise! Noise! Noise! Noise!
Who 3 (Crystal): Thats one thing he hated!
Who 1 (Keri); The NOISE!
Who 2 (Ali): NOISE!
Who 3 (Crystal): NOISE!
Who 1 (Keri): NOISE!
Who 2 (Ali): Then the Whos, young and old, would sit down to feast
Who 3 (Crystal): And theyd feast!
Who 1 (Keri): And theyd feast!
Who 2 (Ali): And theyd FEAST!
Who 3 (Crystal): FEAST!
Who 1 (Keri): FEAST!
Who 2 (Ali): FEAST!
Who 3 (Crystal): They would feast on Who-pudding, and rare Who-roast beast
Who 1 (Keri): Which was something the Grinch couldnt stand in the least!
Who 2 (Ali): And THEN theyd do something he liked least of all!

Who 3 (Crystal): Every Who down in Who-ville, the tall and the small, would stand
close together with Christmas bells ringing. Theyd stand hand in hand
Who 1 (Keri): And the Whos would start singing!
Who 2 (Ali): Theyd sing!
Who 3 (Crystal): And theyd sing!
Who 1 (Keri): And theyd SING
Who 2 (Ali): SING!
Who 3 (Crystal): SING!
Who 1 (Keri): SING!
Who 2 ( Ali): And the more the Grinch thought of this Who-Christmas sing
Narrator (Anna): The more the Grinch thought
Grinch (Logan): I must stop this whole thing! Why, for fifty-three years Ive put up
with it. NOW, I MUST sto this Christmas from coming!..... But HOW?
Who 3 (Crystal): Then he got an idea!
Who 1 (Keri): An awful idea!
ALL: The Grinch got a wonderful, awful idea!
Grinch (Logan): I know just what to do!
Narrator (Anna): The Grinch laughed in his throat
Who 2 (Ali): And he made a quick Santy Claus hat and coat
Narrator (Anna): And he chuckled, and clucked

Grinch (Logan): What a great Grinchy trick! With this coat and this hat, I look just
like Saint Nick! All I need is a reindeer
Who 3 (Crystal): The Grinch looked around. But, since reindeer are scarce, there
was none to be found
Who 1 (Keri): Did that stop the old Grinch?
Grinch (Logan): NO!
Narrator (Anna): The Grinch simply said
Grinch (Logan): If I cant find a reindeer, Ill make one instead!
Who 2 (Ali): So he called his dog, Max
Who 3 (Crystal): Then he took some red thread. And he tied a big hor on the top of
his head.
Who 1 (Keri): THEN he loaded some bags
Who 2 (Ali): And some old empty sacks
Who 3 ( Crystal): On a ramshackle sleigh
Who 1 (Keri): And he hitched up old Max
Narrator (Anna): Then the Grinch said
Grinch (Logan): Giddap!
Who 2 (Ali): And the sleigh started down toward the homes where the Whos lay asnooze in their town
Who 3 (Crystal): All their windows were dark. Quiet snow filled the air
Who 1 (Keri): All the Whos were all dreaming sweet dreams without care

Who 2 (Ali): When he came to the first little house on the square
Grinch (Logan): This is stop number one
Narrator (Anna): The old Grinchy Claus hissed
Who 3 (Crystal): And he climbed to the roof, empty bags in his fist
Who 1 (Keri): Then he slid down the chimney. A rather tight pinch
Who 2 (Ali): But, if Santa could do it
Who 3 (Crystal): Then so could the Grinch
Who 1 (Keri): He got stuck only once, for a moment or two
Who 2 (Ali): Then he stuck his head out of the fireplace flue where the little Who
stockings all hung in a row
Grinch (Logan): These stockings
Narrator (Anna): He grinned
Grinch (Logan): Are the first things to go!
Who 3 (Crystal): Then he slithered and slunk, with a smile most unpleasant
Who 1 (Keri): Around the whole room, and he took every present!
Who 2 (Ali): Pop guns!
Who 3 (Crystal): And bicycles!
Who 1 (Keri): Roller skates!
Who 2 (Ali): Drums!
Who 3 (Crystal): Checkerboards!

Who 1 (Keri): Tricycle!

Who 2 (Ali): Popcorn!
Who 3 (Crystal): And plums!
Who 1 (Keri): And he stuffed them in bags
Who 2 (Ali): Then the Grinch, very nimbly, stuffed all the bags, one by one, up the
chimney!
Who 3 (Crystal): Then he slunk to the icebox
Who 1 (Keri): He took the Whos feast!
Who 2 (Ali): He took the Who-pudding!
Who 3 (Crystal); He took the roast beast!
Who 1 (Keri): he cleaned out that icebox as quick as a flash
Who 2 (Ali): Why, that Grinch even took their last can of Who-hash!
Who 3 (Crystal): Then he stuffed all the food up the chimney with glee
Grinch (Logan): And NOW!
Narrator (Anna): Grinned the Grinch
Grinch (Logan): I will stuff up the tree!
Who 1 (Keri): And the Grinch grabbed the tree, and he started to shove
Who 2 (Ali): When he heard a small sound like the coo of a dove
Who 3 (Crystal): He turned around fast, and aw a small Who!
Who 1 (Keri): Little Cindy-lou Who

Who 2 (Ali): Who was not more than two

Who 3 (Crystal): The Grinch had been caught by this tiny Who daughter whod got
out of bed for a cup of cold water
Narrator (Anna): She stared at the Grinch and said
Who 1 (Keri): Santy Claus, why? Why are you taking our Christmas tree, WHY?
Who 2 (Ali): But, you know, that old Grinch was so smart and so slick, he thought up
a lie
Who 3 (Crystal): and he thought it up quick!
Grinch (Logan): Why, my sweet little tot
Narrator (Anna): The fake Santy Claus lied
Grinch (Logan): Theres a light on this tree that wont light on one side. So Im
taking it home to my workshop, my dear. Ill fix it up there. Then Ill bring it back
here.
Who 1 (Keri): And his fib fooled the child
Who 2 (Ali): Then he patted her head and he got her a drink and he sent her to
bed
Who 3 (Crystal): And when Cindy-lou Who went to bed with her cup, HE went to
the chimney and stuffed the tree up!
Who 1 (Keri): Then the last thing he took was the log for their fire!
Who 2 (Ali): Then he went up the chimney, himself, the old liar
Who 3 (Crystal): On their walls he left nothing but hooks and some wire
Who 1 (Keri): And the one speck of food that he left in the house was a crumb that
was even too small for a mouse

Who 2 (Ali): Then he did the same thing to the other Whos houses
Who 3 (Crystal): Leaving crumbs muc too small for the other Whos mouses!
Who 1 (Keri): It was quarter past dawn
Who 2 (Ali): All the Whos, still a-bed
Who 3 (Crystal): All the Whos still a-snooze
Who 1 (Keri): When he packed up his sled
Who 2 (Ali): Packed it up with their presents
Who 3 (Crystal): The ribbons!
Who 1 (Keri): The wrappings!
Who 2 (Ali): The tags!
Who 3 (Crystal): And the tinsel!
Who 1 (Keri): The trimmings!
Who 2 (Ali): The Trappings!
Who 3 (Crystal): Three thousand feet up!
Who 1 (Keri): Up the side of Mr. Crumpit
Who 2 (Ali): He rode with his load to the tiptop to dump it!
Grinch (Logan): Pooh-pooh to the Whos!
Narrator (Anna): He was grinchishly humming

Grinch (Logan): Theyre finding out now that no Christmas is coming! Theyre just
waking up! I know just what theyll do! Their mouths will hang open a minute or two,
then the Whos down I Who-ville will all cry boo-hoo! Thats a noise
Narrator (Anna): Grinned the Grinch
Grinch (Logan): That I simply MUST hear!
Who 3 (Crystal): So he paused. And the Grinch put his hand to his ear. And he did
hear a sound rising over the snow.
Who 1 (Keri): It started in low
Who 2 (Ali): Then it started to grow
Who 3 (Crystal): But the sound wasnt sad!
Who 1 (Keri): Why, this sound sounded merry!
Who 2 (Ali): It couldnt be so!
Who 3 (Crystal): But it WAS merry!
All: VERY!
Who 1 (Keri): He stared down at Who-ville!
Who 2 (Ali): The Grinch popped his eyes!
Who 3 (Crystal): Then he shook!
Who 1 (Keri): What he saw a shocking surprise!
Who 2 (Ali): Every Who down in Who-ville, the tall and the small, was singing!
Who 3 (Crystal): Without any presents at all!
Who 1 (Keri): He HADNT stopped Christmas from coming! It came!

Who 2 (Ali): Somehow or other, it came just the same!

Who 3 (Crystal): And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow
Narrator (Anna): Stood puzzling and puzzling
Grinch (Logan): How could it be so? It came without ribbons! It came without tags!
It came without packages, boxes, or bags!
Who 1 (Keri): And he puzzled three hours, till his puzzler was sore
Who 2 (Ali): Then the Grinch thought of something he hadnt
Grinch (Logan): Maybe Christmas
Narrator (Anna): He thought
Grinch (Logan): Doesnt come from a store. Maybe Christmas. Perhaps means a
little bit more!
Who 3 (Crystal): And what happened then?
Who 1 (Keri): Well. In Who-ville they say that the Grinchs small heart grew
three sizes that day!
Who 2 (Ali): And the minute his heart didnt feel quite so tight, he whizzed with
his load through the bright morning light.
Who 3 (Crystal): And be brought back the toys!
Who 1 (Keri): And the food for the feast!
Who 2 (Ali): And he did
Who 3 (Crystal): HE HIMSELF!
Who 1 (Keri): The Grinch carved the roast beast!!
