Method
To perform this experiment correctly, there were three things needed to know to be
able to plan properly. We needed to know who the participants will be, what measurements
we would take, and the procedures we needed to follow.
Participants
The participants that were in this experiment were all of the people at the University
of North Carolina at Charlotte who walked through the door the conductors of the
experiment held open for them.
of the people at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte who walked through the door
the conductors of the experiment held open for them.
Measurements
There were two measurements the conductors of the experiment were looking for
during the experiment.
1. How many males say thank you/make some form of acknowledgement
2. How many females say thank you/make some form of acknowledgement
The conductors will tally these measurements with the total amount of people that walked
through the door held open for them.
Procedures
There were procedures the conductors of the experiment needed to follow in order to
perform the experiment properly. First, one of the conductors will walk up to a door in front
of a group of people, open it, and proceed to hold the door open for them. While they are
doing this, another conductor will be recording this on their camera. After the conductor is
done holding the door open for a group of people or a person, the conductors will get
together to watch the video and make sure they got the right numbers so the experiment is
accurate.
