PRACTICE

Now, we are going watch a short video of other

children around the world who talk about what they
would like to be in the future.

Practice Activity 1:
T gives the instructions of a drilling
activity:

Ss are divided in two big groups, one with

the questions and the other with the 15 min
answers. Then, one group of Ss have to
form a circle and the other group have to
form a bigger one surrounding the smaller
circle of Ss. Each S has to be placed in

Alright! Lets divide the class in 2 groups. These rows will

form a huge circle and the rest of your classmates have to
form a smaller circle into the bigger one. Done? OK, so now
each student from the smaller circle has to face the partner
that is in the bigger circle. You all must be face to face with
a classmate from the opposite circle, because the one that is in

front of the other, so there is one student

with a question and one with an answer.
After that, the S in front of the other has
to interact and ask the question or answer
using the piece of paper. Each interaction
should not take more than minute. Finally,
Ss of the surrounding group have to rotate
in order to change partner and repeat until
he/she matches the initial partner.

the bigger circle will get a piece of paper with a question and
the one that is in the smaller circle will get the answer.
Interact each other and then rotate until you arrive to your
original position.

T gives Ss short pieces of paper with

different questions and answers for those
questions related to what they would like
to be in the future and jobs.
Practice Activity 2:

T tells Ss to get in pairs and discuss about

a set of picture that T is going to show on
a PPT.
The pictures will be about different types
of jobs, and Ss have to choose two jobs
that Chilean people would like to choose 10 min
to do in the future.
Ss have 3 minutes to discuss and then
present to the class at random giving one
reason per picture.

Now I would like you two get in pairs and I am going

to show you a set of pictures about different jobs. You
have to discuss with your partner and choose two jobs
in the pictures that you think that a Chilean young
person would like to do in the future. You have 3
minutes to discuss, and I will choose pairs at random
to share your opinion and explanation about it. Lets
get to work.

PRODUCTION

T asks Ss to get in pairs and then explains

to Ss the role-play task. Ss will have to
create a role-play about what they would
like to be in the future using the structure
previously taught.
T asks Ss to get in pairs. Then, T explains
Ss the task about a role-play activity.

Alright, the following activity is about a role-play.

Please get in pairs and in 15 minutes you have to be able
to prepare a 4 line dialog about what would you like to be
in the future using simple future. It has to be set in a Talk
Show context, so one of you is going to be the
Journalist and the other one the Interviewee. Dont
forget to use the vocabulary seen about jobs.

Ss have to create a 4 line role-play about 30 min

what they would like to be in the future
using the structure previously taught. One
S will be the Journalist and the other
will be the Interviewee. They have to
perform like they were in a Talk Show
Ss have only 10 minutes to create the
role-play.
While Ss are creating the role-play, T
monitors each pair in order to help them if
they have any problem.
Ss have 5 minutes to practice the roleplay.
After they finish practicing, each pair has
to present the role-play to the whole class.
Finally, the teacher gives short feedback
to each pair.
Adapted from University of Sussex

As you finish, I will ask you to perform your dialogs in

front of the class. If you have any question you can ask
me. Lets start!
