Chapter 1

Basics of Soccer
Know Basic Rules
1. Knowing basic rules of Champions League is a first step of looking like a
Champions League expert. Soccer is a simple team sports. Two teams face
each other and objective is to score more goals than the other team. Each
team will have 11 players. Team with most goals in the end of 90 minutes
wins the game.
2. Knowing basic rules of Champions League is a second step of looking like a
Champions League expert. Process of teams advancing in Champions
league is little different than World Cup. Champions league teams will play
home and away. If the scores are tied, team with most away goals wins the
round and advances to the next round. Arena for the final is decided before
hand it will be only played once. Team with most goals wins the game. If the
game is tied, teams will play additional 30 min. It the game is still tied after
the extra time, it will go to penalty shootout.

Know Your Players and Position

1. Know player and their position. There are different types of defenders,
midfielder and forwards. Calling player from their specific position rather than
saying just midfield make people think you know more about soccer. For
example, Messi is known for scoring lots of goals but he is not a real striker,
his position is center forward.

2. Although Diego Costa scores less often than Messi, he is considered real
striker. Knowing your player is important on looking like a soccer expert.

Team Formation

Football lineup is great way to predict what type of game teams will play. Usual team
will have line up like 4-4-2, 4-5-1, and 4-3-3. When you see the team line up in
picture, always say "Oh the team is playing 4-2-2 or 4-2-3-1 formation". This shows
you know about player position and the team.

Just be calm and relaxed even if you want to scream your lungs out

After game
1. Talk to you friends how good/bad your teams played how they could've
improved
2. If you don't really know how teams could have played better, just say they
should have changed formation and substituted some player.
