gobsmacked can you be to see this in one friendship group...
Character Biographies
Sydney: A girl who comes from the big city in Australia but moved to England. Her mother is a very
chilled but sophisticated woman who is high p in the fashion industry. Whereas her father is a
fireman, who risks his life to save others. However her weakness points is that she is a very clumsy
always falling over and dropping things. The one thing that gets her out of bed every morning is
having all her great friends around her making her laugh and be happy. Her Dream is to move to
Australia and become a professional fashion designer. If you wanted to hurt Sydney you would have
to bring up past events that have scared her like her dad having an affair. Her traits consist of being
Funny, Pretty, Stylish, intelligent, Tall and Slim, a brunette, shy and quiet when it comes to her
speaking her own opinion or meeting new people.
Chad: Chad is a tall, blonde boy, who loves to joke around and flirt with any girl that walks past him.
Hes strength is being able to be honest with anyone he truly cares about like his best friend Sydney
and Jake. However his weak point is he gets annoyed over the smallest things which irritates a lot of
people like people laughing at him when he falls over. What gets him out of bed is Flirting with any
blonde and slim girl in sight. His dream is to move abroad and become an international football player
being the number one in the world. If you wanted to hurt him you would have to bring up his brother
who is in jail from manslaughter and relating him to his brother who is his complete opposite. His
traits are Tall, Blonde, Funny, a Flirt, Loud, Hot, Adventurous and Brave.
Finn: Finn is a hot and adventurous guy who is determined to do anything possible, when he sets his
mind on it, however his weakness is fighting with people when he thinks they have crossed the line in
offensive situations. What gets Finn out of bed everyday is getting closers to his dream everyday,
which is to become a professional surfer and he goes down to Newquay in Devon every half term to
learn to surf and join in competitions to get his wanted title of an international surfer. What would hurt
Finn would be to bring up his parents divorce, which is a topic where he gets angry and could end up
fighting someone. His traits consist of being Hot, Relaxed, Smart, Tall, Adventurous, Brave, Quite
and Happy.
Jake: Jake is a Funny, but loud guy who loves to be honest and not afraid to say anything that he feel
is right to say in a situation. Unfortunately his weakness is meddling in other peoples business,
making the situation a whole lot worse. What gets Jake out of bed, is his college subjects of Gym,
Football and BMXing, which conclude his dream of wanting to become a Footballer and BMXer in
California in the USA. To hurt Jake you would have to mention how he lost against a guy called
Tristan Smith in a BMXing Competition and is now a world champion. Jakes traits are being Aloof,
Dumb, Violent, Funny, an Explorer, being Happy, Loud and also Arrogant.
Katie: Katie is a blonde who is very quite; she is the single one of the friendship group. Her strength is
she wants to help anything living (humans and animals), but her weakness is getting upset about being
single as it makes her feel insecure about herself. What gets her out of bed is her friends and her love
for colourful art. Her love of Art made her decide that her dream was to become an artist, using the
most colourful paints and materials. To hurt Katie you would have to bring up her not being pretty and

being single, making her feel unwanted. Her traits are her being Quite, Shy, Intelligent, Creative,
Pretty, Funny, Very Caring and Blonde.
Tiffany: Tiffany is a confident Blonde who is the girlfriend of Jake within the friendship group. Her
strength is being supportive to anyone who she feels needs help, however her weakness is that a lot of
the time her mind is focused on Fashion and her boyfriend. What gets Tiffany out of bed is boyfriend
Jake, her friends and Fashion! Her dream is to become a fashion designer having her own clothing
range and can buy any clothes she wants from anywhere in the world. To hurt Tiffany you would have
to bring up thing to do with bad fashion outfits and how her boyfriend is going to leave her cause they
are jealous. Tiffanys traits are being Blonde, Confident, Averagely intelligent, Brave, Stylish, Caring,
Loud and Clumsy.
Statement of intent: The audience that this is targeted at is people aged between 17-27, as its
associated with typical programmes on at 6 pm on Channel 4. Similar programmes that are on at this
time are hollyoaks, Misfits, outnumbered and the TV series 10 things I hate about you, these
particular programmes link to my target audience and the goal I am going to achieve. This is filming
my five-minute production using a single camera, which the majority of this programme uses, when
trying to include the audience and getting the opinion of each character when using one camera. The
genre of my film is an rom- com showing the types of relationship there are within this one friendship
group of six people.as we concluded that it had a good storyline that is based around true events so its
awareness people of the types of situations that gone on throughout life. There are various locations in
the production like a college which is where it introduction of the split screen begins, showing a
stereotypical place for students. Other place is London, where the majority of the film takes place as a
flashback/past tense of an event of the whole friendship group being together in the big city. (Like the
inspiration of the TV show friends). And finally there are a few memories that are located at a party
all together,
Storyline: A group of friends, who have become very close over the past few years. It begins when
there is shouting and fighting between the two guys (Finn and Chad) over Sydney. (Comedy scene).
The Friendship group is being torn apart. Sydney looks back of old friendship photos which turns into
a flashback of all of them enjoying parties, times in Windsor and The marina.it mainly focus on their
time in Windsor where they are all walking along the street need the queens castle, laughing a joking,
when Sydney falls over. All of them are crying of laughter, the couple in the friendship group Tiffany
and Jake are cuddling with one another, whilst the single girl Katie an annoyed chad are on the floor
crying tears of laughter. When Finn is the only one to bother helping her up they have a romantic
moment between the connections of their eyes. Everyone makes jokes of Finn and Sydney together as
chad gets jealous tripping Finn over. It makes Sydney realise that she has to make a decision between
either upsetting one or the other or being both there friend to save the whole friendship group falling
part. Which one will she chose

Narrative Structures
What is narrative?
The narrative is the way that the story is planned out.

What is a linear narrative?

Linear Narrative Follow a straight line from beginning to the middle then the end (chronological
order)
Examples - Toy Story Toy story is a linear narrative as the storys flows in chronological order of
beginning, middle then end. The beginning where Andy gets the toys, to the action of the toys going
away (the action) and then after the climax the resolution of the toys returning safe and sound.
10 things I hate about you (movie) The movie ten things I hate about you is a linear narrative as the
order that is present is in the correct order, meaning there in no confusion to the audience as the movie
flows. The beginning where the characters are introduced to each other, then the action of the guy
trying to get the girl and then the ending where the both fall in love.

What is a non-linear narrative?

Non-linear is where a story is told but not in the correct order, it can often be confusing for the
viewer. It often places the audience in the minds of the characters who have unusual ways of thinking.
Examples -Slumdog Millionaire This is a non-linear narratives as the storyline, is presented in a
random order going from the end to the beginning then to the middle where it them finishes where it
begun (the end) this becomes confusing to the viewers as they order doesnt fit together, but can still
flow.
Batman Begins this is a non-linear narrative as the storyline isnt in a chronological order as the film
goes from the middle, to the beginning then the end. (Christian bale) Batmans nightmare is shown at
the beginning, then the rise of the new hero who is an all-time rich guy of Wayne enterprises then
continues through the action of beginning events and then the flow of the opened ending to the next
film.

What narrative structure does your final video have? My narrative structure of my film is based
on a non-linear narrative structure as the production has a brief introduction of a split screen of each
topics that is within the film (the love triangle, the couple and the single one). Before it goes straight
into the climax point of the middle sequence where its shown as the beginning of the production
where the fight is taken place between chad and Finn over girl Sydney. In a way a flashback narrative
is added in the production as it links on to another scene of the past (time in Windsor). After the event

its flashback was from hours earlier that day, before in comes back to the beginning, but also shows a
concluded ended of Sydney sitting in her room making the biggest decision ever, which could change
everything before in Finn enters leaving a gasp as the film cuts leaving it unresolved for the
audience.

EXT: In the morning, Henley College Entrance

Midday, Marlow and View of Town
Sydneys is walking from the entrance of her college as she briefly introduces herself and the
situation that has occurred in her friendship group and passes on to the next split screen
which is the shows her friends being introduced separately first Chad, then Finn, then
Tiffany, then Jake and finally Katie. The door swings open as Sydney walks with the camera,
seeing her friends waiting at the bottom walking towards her.
SYDNEY
Hi Im Sydney and all the things I only thought would happen in the movies are happening in
my friendshipBrilliant! So theres me stuck in the middle of a love triangle between my best

friend chad the player (says sarcastically) and the guy I am falling over Finn (looks as if in
love), hes just so amazing and(stops looks back to the camera) waitanyways
(laughs)(Moves on to chad)
CHAD
Names chad...
(It shows a preview of chads personality him walking past any skinny girl that he thinks is
hot, as the camera follows him. Split screen 2)
KATIE
(Quietly)

Oh. Hiya
(As she notices TIFFANYS colourful t-shirt)
Ooo I love that T-shirt Tiff (smiling) (split screen 3)
JAKE
Sup... Hey Tiff (winking at her)

(As he is walking towards the camera he is holding the camera as he sees his girlfriend
Tiffany as he walks to see her and the rest of the group to meet Sydney. Split screen 4)
TIFFANY
Hiya babes oh hey you
(Slightly waving as if it is the direction of Sydney. Split Screen 5)
SYDNEY
And Finally Finn
(Love Struck look glazing into the camera)
Then camera swings screens to Finn

FINN
Yo, hows it going?
(Giving a Flirty wink)
SYDNEY
And there you have it this is friendship Group, we love each other but seriously we are like
Twilight, Mean Girls and Sydney White all in one. (Laughs to herself)
CHAD
Hey, Sid we have sport right now you coming?
SYDNEY
Yeah coming lets just wait for Jake and Finn
(Smiling at the camera, whos being Chad)
KATIE
You guys have fun in Sport, see you after art, I will meet you all by the sign after the lesson.
(Smiling at them all walking away)
As Katie is walking past all of them as she goes to her art lesson a small familiar Photo
comes Out of Katies art book as Sydney walks past her,
SYDNEY
(Shouting)
Katie, Youve
(The quietly stops speaking)
SYDNEYS FLASHBACK
EXT: Midday, In Marlow Park Down the Woodland Alley Way

(Completely Free Scripted in this part of the script)

The Picture contained a photo of the whole group together one day in Marlow Park, having
fun and a laugh.
The situation within this part of the story all of the group are walking down the alley all
holding hands and joking around having fun. (Order: Sydney, Finn, Katie, Chad, Tiffany and
Jake).
All of a sudden SYDNEY falls straight over (Clumsy Personality), everyone is laughing and
joking about it.
SYDNEY
Ouch
(Laughing and sort of getting tearful as she is still on the floor)
FINN is the only one that is nice enough to help Sydney off the floor enough though he is
trying so hard not to laugh as much as the others around him. As in the background JAKE
has his arms wrapped round TIFFANY as they are making jokes about Sydney falling over
which is a usual thing for her.
As FINN helps SYDNEY up they have a locked eye connection between the two of them.
Having that silent moment, which was very unexpected for the both of them. (Camera
Angles Consist of Back and Forth shots of the Camera Facing SYDNEY and FINN. Both
Look directly into the camera, as if the camera is each one of them on the opposite side)
As this is happening even though CHAD is still laughing about the situation, he becomes
jealous and almost angry, as KATIE knows he is getting annoyed with the situation thats
going on she lightly grabs his arm to stop him from starting a fight.
Once FINN and SYDNEY have got out of the trance of their love connection is over FINN
pulls SYDNEY up to her feet. As they start Walking after everyone as clamed down of
laughter from the situation CHAD trips up Finn, which causes him to get angry as he stepped

over the line Then the pushing starts which is the beginning of the fight between the two of
them.
In The Fight They Fight over SYDNEY, shouting comments at each other (Making it a
comedy Fight)(Stupid comments shouted at each other). Put each other in headlocks as
they drag each other all over the place causing a dramatic scene where SYDNEY doesnt
know what to do and either does JAKE, TIFFANY or KATIE.
CHAD
Okay, Okay thats enough
(As he is out of breathe)
FINN
All right fair enough you had your fun
(Out of breathe sort of shouting it)
CHAD
Fun haha, Mate id get a lot more out of you, if you were a man, that divorce your parents
had defiantly turned you into a Girl, mammas boy.
FINN Begins to get angry again as he goes and whacks CHAD around the Head with a large
Stick.
EVERYONE
(Gasps)
CHAD Gets up goes to pick up with what he though was a big stick, and turns out it was a
small twig (Comedy) before he throws punch at Finn.
Turns to Jake who is talking to the other three girls
JAKE

Ooh so whose side are we on?

KATIE
Really Jake!
TIFFANY
Clearly Finns I mean come on, I know Chad is your so-called best friend (Sarcastically), but
Finn is so much nicer and we all know you are the one who likes him
(Raising her eyebrow with a smirk on her face)
SYDNEY
What?? I have no idea what youre talking about, but we have to stop this some how.
JAKE runs in to stop the fight and break in up, which Sydney goes in to help too.

(Shouting)

SYDNEY

Guys Just Stop enough! Chad you need to stop fighting, cause the act isnt working for
anyone, you know damn well how I feel about FINN and there you are starting.
FINN and CHAD look at each other then back at SYDNEY. (SYDNEY shouting directly at the
camera as if looking between CHAD and FINN).

CHAD
Sid I cant help how I feel about you, can I
SYDNEY
Seriously Chad save it, cause we all know it would never work between us cause you want
to have me and the next its some other blonde bird walking down the road.

CHAD is Silent as he walks over towards KATIE who becomes very supportive of him as he
has gone silent and quite as he tries to understand what SYDNEY is trying to say.
FINN
So what are these feeling you have towards me then hey
(FINN smiles as he is showing SYDNEY he feels the same way)
SYDNEY

Dont worry, I already know
(FINN grabs SYDNEYS Hand as the begin to walk back towards the Group.)
CHAD
Hey Finn, Im sorry for the way I was, no hard feeling right mate, we cant exactly be mad at
each other if we are mates haha.
FINN
Yeah haha (Free Scripted, Makes a Funny Joke)
The entire group are laughing at the joke as they all turn around walking away into the
distance of the camera. FINN has his arm around SYDNEY, TIFFANY and JAKE are holding
hands. Then the Unexpected image of CHAD going to hold KATIEs hand and she turns to
look at him.
ENDS with someone shouting Smile as the Photo was taken of them all.

Lighting
What is low-key lighting? Low Key lighting is a style of lighting used within
photography, Film or Television to create a Chiaroscuro effect. This style of
lighting only uses one key lighting that is controlled with a fill of light or a
reflector. It accentuates the shape of an object by filling areas into a shade,
them illuminating the image.

What genres may use this? The Genres that will use this type of Lighting is
Horror and Crime genres as the lighting is used to make the scene more dark
cause tension and fear within the productions making the typical conventions
of these genres.

What is high-key lighting? High key lighting is another style of lighting that
aims to reduce the ratio of the lighting within a scene. The use of this lighting
creates an upbeat mood to the image, as its consists and free from any dark
surrounding shadows. It eliminates shadow reduced as it contrasts the image
its focused on it the picture.

What genres may use this? This style of lighting is typically used in Sitcoms and
Comedies as it creates a more upbeat mood, which is what these types of
genres aim to do to please there fellow audience.

What is ambient lighting? It can also be referred to Natural light in a scene

that is being shot. Its the combination of light reflections from various surfaces
to produces a layered illumination as available light e.g. from the environment,
existing light.

Recording and Editing Equipment

What equipment are you using to film?

The equipment I am using is a Camcorder to film to use the technique (Single Camera)
And my own tripod, when its needed to any straight viewed shots that dont need to be moved
around freely, like most of the shots.

What software are you using to edit on? Include a screenshot

Premiere pro will be used to edit my film production, as I will use different effects and play around
with the clips enabling me to get the best out of my film editing.

Brief: Vibe Productions is commissioning

you to produce a shirt film from any genre,
demonstrating the Skills of a Single camera
technique and Other skills learned over the
course. You must fully plan and prepare all
aspects for your production before
undertaking any filming.

Other Information:
There will be the use of various shots throughout the whole production to show the effect
from different views. As we have to use a single camera technique, I will be presenting
characters as the camera throughout which gets the audience more involved.
