Knowledge: for each of the above artifacts, please list (using bullets) the knowledge you gained
pertaining to this PLO.
Activity Planning Form (CHDV 150 enhanced CHDV 210)
I know that it is important to observe children at play in order to create activities that
will develop children's learning in a variety of curriculum areas including: art,
literature, music, movement, math, and science.
I know the importance of using open-ended questions to scaffold during an activity.
I understand the role of the teacher is to be a facilitator to a childs development.
Block Plan (CHDV 150, enhanced in CHDV 210 as Teacher in Charge Project)
CHDV 200 culturally relevant block plan optional

I know that daily schedules, routines and activities are important to making children
feel comfortable.
I know when to add transitions and what transitions to use.

ECERS (CHDV 160), and Designs for Living and Learning component of the
Teacher in Charge Project

I understand why it is important to observe and grade the environment so it fits the
right criteria.

Skills: for each of the above artifacts, please list (using bullets) the skills you gained pertaining
to this PLO.

Activity Planning Form (CHDV 150 enhanced CHDV 210)

I am able to create learning objectives for developmental goals that the children may
be able to perform during activity.
I am able to use the activity forms as a guideline.
I am able to scaffold throughout the activity to support my goals and objectives.
Block Plan (CHDV 150, enhanced in CHDV 210 as Teacher in Charge Project)

I am able to plan and create a weekly block plan that children can feel comfortable
with.
I am able to manage the time for all activities and am able to include transitions.

ECERS (CHDV 160), Designs for Living and Learning component of the Teacher
in Charge Project).

I am able to grade a child development program according to the criteria and making
suggestions to help create a richer environment for the children.

**Growth: Please list ways, in which the knowledge and skills listed above, have grown as a
result of your student teaching experiences.

To my surprise, I find it easier to write out lesson plans. Now that I have gotten
familiar to working out an activity with actual children I know what to expect.
I am now able to plan a week of curriculum according to a certain theme, and create a
block plan around it while keeping in mind of the childrens routine.
I have gained more experience on how to properly rate any early child development
center using the ECERS.

**Beliefs: How has completing the above assignments influenced your beliefs about the
importance of program/curriculum design, evaluation and assessment in supporting play-based
learning?
The activity planning forms has made me believe that with carefully thought out activities I can
support childrens growth and development. With the block plan I believe that it should support
the childrens needs while also planning a theme for a week. The ECERS has shaped my beliefs
that every early childcare program needs to be safe, stimulating, diverse, and developmentally
appropriate for children.
**Future Growth & Next Steps: Think about your future teaching, list three goals to help
you improve upon your existing knowledge and skills and your teaching.

I will continue to implement activity planning by making sure to have set objectives for
the children to learn and develop.
I will continue to build on my skills in creating block plans that are centered on a certain
theme.
I will continue to apply the ECERS to child development programs using my knowledge
for rating.

Identify how you will achieve each of these three goals. Be specific. For instance, will you
enroll in a course? If so, what course? Will you read a book? What book?

To achieve these goals it will take a lot of observations on the teachers and how they are
implementing these items in their classroom.
I will observe how a teacher creates their block plans and how they accommodate for the
children.
Where ever I end up, I will make sure to check that the teachers around me are following
up with the ECERS by designing a developmentally appropriate environment.
