Use one half for each slipper. Apply a thin film of glue around the foot. Don’t apply too much glue or it will bleed through the silk and leave a stain. Place the silk ribbon around the foot so that it extends below the sole of the foot as shown. Cut off the excess and keep to use for the toe. 2 Apply a thin film of glue on the underside of the foot and fold ‘the excess ribbon neatly under the foot as shown. Cut off any excess ribbon straight across the front of the foot. With the remaining piece of silk ribbon, glue one end under ‘the toe and wrap around the foot as shown to form a tube. 4 Apply a small amount of glue inside the end of the tube and fold the excess ribbon neatly under the toe. Smooth the ribbon around the front of the toe to form a neat rounded curve. Cut off excess ribbon ‘across front of foot 5 Cut the rectangle of thin leather in half. Apply a thin film of glue onto the sole on the foot and place the leather onto the foot with the rough side of the leather against the underside of the foot as shown. Allow to dry thoroughly. 6 Using small, sharp scissors, trim away the leather neatly all around the sole of the foot. Repeat steps 1-5 for the other slipper, ensuring it is as identical as possible. 7 Using the 5cm length of white silk ribbon, glue it from the centre of the tummy, between the doll’s legs, and up to the centre of the back. Trim off excess ribbon. Glue the remaining ribbon around the waist with the join at the centre back. Glue unravelled bunka braid around the leg-holes to give a frilly trim. 8 Using the 3cm of 7mm silk ribbon, glue it around the body, under the arms, to form a camisole top, with the join at the centre back. Glue a length of unravelled bunka braid around the neckline of the camisole and over both shoulders to form frilly straps. ‘Trim leather neatly around the edge of 9 Gather all three layers of the tutu (2x 13mm silk ribbon plus organdie ribbon) along the top edge, with the organdie ribbon on top. Use a small, neat running stitch and make sure you sew through all the layers. Secure the gathers at one end with a few stitches. 10 Glue the secured end onto the centre back of the doll and allow to dry. Pull up the gathers tightly around the waist and fasten off securely. Arrange the gathers evenly around the waist. Secure the skirt at the front with a small dot of glue at the waist. Carefully separate the three layers of the tutu so that it fluffs up around the waist. 1 Make a large bow using the 15cm of 7mm wide silk ribbon. Glue the bow onto the back of the doll, centred on the waist. 1 2 To make the wig, first spread a thin film of PVA glue all cover the head and around the hairline. Place one end of the flat section of viscose onto the centre back of the head. Wind carefully around the head, following the hairline. ‘Trim off the excess viscose and press the hair into the glue to give a neat join at the back.
