THE STORY OF ART

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is that it will show the many sources that will back up the claim
about art appreciation in the University of Texas at El Paso. The research questions are:
what pieces of art have been featured in museums by UTEP students and faculty? How
has art influenced the presences of UTEP with its appealing look? What are the
opportunities that art can open up to a person? What is the history behind animation as it
a form of art?
Featured work
This section of the paper will focus on the success of UTEP students and faculty as there
art being featured in events museums and etc. An event took place at the Stanlee and
Gerald Rubin Center at UTEP where Alejandro Almanza Pereda, alumni from UTEP,
presented what he has done with the works of art. The theme of his work is how balance
and easily be turned into destruction, balance is how everything is need to stay in check
with one an other to maintain peace and how easily it can turn into destruction. His work
has been featured throughout the US and Latin America. This was Peredas idea to make
his sculptures have so much depth. Image 1 below shows an example of that sense of
balance.

THE STORY OF ART

Image 1: This is a picture of one of Peredas sculptures. Here it is seen that metal rods to
maintain the balance of the piece connect all the objects. Removing one of them can
cause a collapse and will result in mayhem.
Art Advances
Art can take people to places within the mind to create spectacular things. Within
this section of the paper the question of how can art open opportunities to those will be
answered. Those individuals who have discovered the beauty of art and are passionate in
perusing its visual quest will find this section to be useful. This will show the specifics of
what could be available in the certain art degree one are perusing. The Student Art Guide
website shows viewers what certain art routes could possibly land those who follow their
degree.
Those who want to go into Graphic design may find many options to their career
that can be found. Graphic Design is where one can create digital art, which can be
implemented into many things. An example is Advertising for business, where one can be
a branding designer. In this position logos can be created for the company, designing
pages to a magazine and even illustrate in books.
Throughout the years the way people have dressed has change its style. Thats
because of fashion designers whom have change the way we express the way those look.
The art of fashion also has many career opportunities. Such as, designing shoes, clothing,
etc. One can even be a costume designer for feature films or just the traditional
Halloween costumes. Material made from any forms of fabric a fashion designer can fine
work on. 3D product Design this field of work is many designing models such as
furniture, toys, and ect.

THE STORY OF ART

Another art form is Digital/ Multi-Media. This particular area of work can land
people into major media business and companies. Being an animator is an example of
digital and multi-media art. As an animator those types of people can create 3D cartoons
or even create special effects. Another career that anyone can have is being a producer of
films and television show. So just being in the film industry creating films. Also another
route is getting into video game design where people can produce games for popular
gaming systems or even mobile apps and such. Any form of social networking design.
Photography can also be used in advertising as well. Photographers can also work
in weddings capturing those special moments for the newly weds. They can work as
photo journalist. All these forms of art are just ways of people expressing themselves in a
unique way. Some as forms of new writing capturing that moment meaning the most.
Evolution of art
Art in many years throughout history it has evolved into many forms of its genre.
From drawing to sculpting and etc. One form of art that has risen is animation, a form of
motion story telling through art. During the mid and late 19th century and the beginning
of the 20th century, the art forms of visual still and motion media began its impact on
America and the world. (Connelly 2011) This was the beginning of the art form that
changed the way art is viewed upon.
Animation to the human eyes was nothing but an illusion set up with many
images put together to fool our brains into seeing the motion. In the 19th century
Europeans developed their own animated pictures in the form of spinning disks and
zoetropes featuring sequential drawings visible through a slit. (Borrell 2010) this began

THE STORY OF ART

the revolution of this art form when the first animated film came out in 1908 that was just
only 2 minutes long. A small start to something amazing.
From the documentary film a Pixar story it shows the viewers the history of the
company how it started and the way animation as an art change into the 3-demensional
world. It explains how animation pretty much the evolution of story telling which was an
art that began with cave men drawings on the wall. Like all forms of art such as paintings
they tell a story and this is has evolved into animation. However Pixar has taking that
much further revolutionizing the art into 3-demension bringing the story more life like.

Conclusion
Over the years of just observing the world I have seen many forms of art and
the meaning behind that. At times I have seen just brilliant ideas that explain what is
being done in a single piece. Sure some are visually exquisite to the eye but its the
meanings deep within that makes it come to life. The foundation of the story that
makes it a masterpiece of art and how it all draws its attention to the main point.
This form of expression is but an other dimension into the world of writing.
