Responsibilities
As a YogaSprouts intern, I was expected to attend every class YogaSprouts
offered this semester, as long as the time and day did not conflict with my school
schedule. During the classes, I assisted in teaching and making sure the children stayed
quiet and did not distract other students. My other responsibilities included making fliers,
program development, social media posts, website updates. I was expected to turn
assignments in on time and practice time management skills when working from home. I
helped spread the word about the Strong Girls program and YogaSprouts events. I
assisted Rachel with everything she asked me to help her with. I gained experience in
therapy sessions with teenage girls struggling with anxiety and depression and acted as an
additional source of support in that setting. I was also responsible for creating a
YogaSprouts training manual for future interns and employees.
In the family life education content areas of the CFLE Matrix, the main areas of
focus for my internship are families and individuals in social contexts, human growth and
development across the lifespan, interpersonal relationships, and professional ethics and
practice. In the area of interpersonal skills and professional conduct, I have used listening
skills, respected differences of opinion, observed confidential practices, used empathy,
and communicated verbally when interacting with children, teenagers, and my
supervisor. In the areas of assessment and evaluation skills, I have reviewed literature to
create a training handbook. In the area of writing and materials development, I have
created promotional fliers, developed the YogaSprouts website, corresponded with other
professionals, and designed brochures. In the area of planning and organization, I have
helped plan events, update information, prioritize responsibilities, managed time,

participated in strategic planning, and scheduled activities. In the area of program

development and information activities, I have modified an existing program, developed
goals and objectives, collected information/materials, adapted information into learning
principles, and selected appropriate activities. In the presentation skills and teaching
methods area, I have helped facilitate an educational group. The skills I have to offer
YogaSprouts are practiced in various schools, locations, and at home.
The connections I made through my internship with YogaSprouts has offered me
many networking possibilities. Rachel has worked with many therapists and interns that
are have different jobs around the country. Rachel and the therapists I have worked with
often mention the people she could connect me with to get experience or to ask for advice
in various fields of work. I am excited to use the networking possibilities my internship
has given me in the future.

My Most Memorable Experience

My internship has offered me so many memorable experiences that it is difficult
to choose one. I will never forget the pre-primary and primary classes at Lifespan
Montessori. Seeing those children every Wednesday truly gave me something to look
forward to at the beginning of the week. I will also never forget the therapy sessions I
was able to help facilitate with middle school and high school girls. I loved feeling of
fulfillment that came with knowing that I was a source of support for girls struggling
anxiety and depression. I enjoyed getting to know each and every one of those girls and
hope my advice helped them in some way.
