PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

Education is everything. Education is the key to unlock the door to success. The
purpose of education is to provide an opportunity for students to access knowledge and promote
education excellence. Education is teaching students from right or wrong and how to become
successful citizens of society. Education teaches students life-long skills that will help students
approach challenges they face in the future as they get older. Education provides prospects for
every child to receive the opportunity to be educated and successful in life. Education promotes
problem-solvers, critical thinkers, artists, and leaders to helps create a productive society.
The role of school that should play in society is that the learning that happens in school
impacts our society. Schools need to prepare children for adulthood but schools should not treat
children as adults. Schools need to follow a developmentally appropriate curriculum for
children. Schools need create fun and engaging experiences for children. Children should also
learn in school academic and social skills that they will use in the future to become productive
members of society. The roles of students in education is to perform what has been taught in the
classroom. Students should be active participants in their education by experiencing through
hands-on learning. Children should be motivated and inspired to learn. The role of the teacher in
education is to be the facilitator in the classroom by identifying students needs, provide students
learning opportunities through discovery, and focus the curriculum to fill in the gaps of learning.
To ensure schools educate all students, schools need be well-staffed and have great resources to
access to meet the needs for certain students. Schools need have these special resources in order
to meet the needs of students who suffer from poverty, who speak a foreign language, and who
have exceptional needs.
One of the duties as a teacher, is to advance societys desire to respect and value
diversity. Teachers can model optimistic attitudes and respect about diversity. Modeling this

attitude will influence students to respect and value people who are different than them. It is
important to invite and include the diversity of families in the classroom. This allows the parents
feel a part of their childs education and have an understanding of what the child is learning.
Parents also become more aware of different facilities or people they can meet in order to seek
help for their child or family. To establish a trusting relationship with the parents, I would invite
them to volunteer in the classroom or to attend classroom events. I would also send notes home
to parents discussing how well their child is doing in school. Including the parents in their
childs education is great way to communicate and improve the childs overall education.
Another approach I can use in my future classroom to maximize the learning of diverse students,
is to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for my students. Creating this sense of
trust and safety in the classroom will allows students academic and social skills to flourish. I
will implement safety and trust in the classroom by having morning meeting every day before
the school day starts. Students at morning meeting can express how they feel that morning or
what is going on in their life. I will tell my students that our classroom is like a family. We
sometimes may fight and not get along with each other but in the end we have each others back
no matter what! Other ways to maximize learning of diverse students is to have them share a
little about themselves. Students can share their interests, backgrounds, and family by having a
classroom discussion. Also if students need extra help, I would have students meet with the
resource teacher in order to help with any areas of struggle my students might face.
Education is the key to success. My philosophy as a teacher is to be the mentor of
change for my students. In my classroom, I want to bring positive, meaningful learning
experiences for my students. I want my students to enjoy going to school, to feel safe, and be
motivated to learn then I will know that I have done my job right.
