Basics: Continued understanding of breath, alignment and relaxed tendon structure. Basic
understanding of use of center/hips, intention and expanded awareness.
Defensive/blocking techniques: folding blocks, riding blocks
Hand strikes: ripping back-fist, front slaps, palm strikes, elbows, reverse
Kicks: front thrust, hook, crescent (outward/inward), inside curl, hopping side thrust
Partner Work: beginning refinement of targeting and ability to control level of contact.

Basic counters: various ways of countering linear punches and kicks using strikes

History: know basic history of Tum Pai: founder, when developed, meaning, symbol, basic
principles.
Philosophy: mind/body connection and the use of intention. Begin to understand the concept of
harmony, as well as the basic difference between an external martial art and internal martial art.
