Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has issued advisory to all Food Safety Commissioners, brief facts are reproduced below:
1. Urban Local Bodies have to look after, all meat shops and slaughter houses, to check their registration along with the infrastructures and process of slaughtering.
2. Transport of animals towards slaughter houses, should be as per Cattle Transport Rules, 1978 amended in 2001 read with the Motor Vehicle Act and ISI specifications.
3. Camel and scheduled wild animals are not allowed for slaughter, stunned process is allowed for live stock read with the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Slaughter Houses) Rules, 2001.
As per the decision taken up by the State Committee for Slaughter Houses, training programme for all members of the District Committee for Slaughter Houses be conducted, after obtaining the list of participants.
Hence you are requested to expedite the matter.
