Dualband Antennas

XXpol design

dualband diplexer

XXpol system

Separate Xpol systems

for 900 and 1800 MHz

Dualband Antennas / XXpol Design

separate radiation elements for 900

and 1800 MHz
1800 MHz dipoles interlocked
between the 900 MHz dipoles
vertical dipole spacing one wave
length

higher number of 1800 MHz dipoles

higher gain
optional dual band combiner

Dualband Antennas / Diplexer

a diplexer consists of two band pass filters

low insertion loss (approx. 0.2 dB)
high port isolation (> 50 dB)

Dualband Antennas / XXpol System

4 inputs :
4 feeder cables and jumper cables
are required

2 inputs :
antenna integrated diplexers reduce
the number of inputs to two
only 2 feeder cables resp.
jumper cables are needed

additional diplexers near the base

station split up into the applied
frequency bands

Dualband Antennas / XXpol System

Dual band antenna benefits :

just one antenna for both bands

mechanical dimensions identical with pure 900 MHz antennas
no bad compromises due to four independent radiation systems
integrated diplexers simplify the upgrading to 900/1800 MHz :
existing feeder lines and support structure remain unchanged

Kathrein/Scholz 07/01

Dualband Antennas / XXpol System

complete base station for 3 sectors,

900/1800 MHz, Xpol diversity
consisting of only 3 antennas and 6
feeder cables

using space diversity and single band

versions, 12 antennas are required !

Kathrein/Scholz 07/01

Dualband antennas / High isolation

Xpol antennas (one per sector) can be mounted around a mast under minimum
spacing; isolation for any port combination better 30 dB !

Dualband antennas (4 ports)
