Introduction:
This method statement explains the procedure to be strictly followed during the
painting of fire fighting pipes & to be inline as per the project specification, and as per
the recommendation of the approved material manufacture.

Proposed Material:

. Sigma Red Oxide Primer 0809 (Sigma Brand)

. Sigma color Semi Gloss 0817

. Diluted 2% Thinner 20-50

(Sigma Brand)

Handling and Storage:

. Each item to be provided under this part shall be stored and handled in accordance
with the recommendation of the manufacture of the item.

. Products susceptible to ultra violet degradation shall be stored under cover and out
of direct sunlight.

Tools and Equipment:1. Steel wire Brush

2. Sand paper grit No. 100
3. Grinder
4. Paint Brush
5. Paint roller
6. Air Compressor
7. waste cloth

Pre-Treatment for Fire Fighting Pipes:. The mill scale from the surface of all pipes must be removed by wire brushing or
abrading with sand paper grit No. 100.

. Clean the dust from pipe surface with cloth.

. After completion of all preparatory works the following paint system must apply
over ferrous metal pipes.

Paint System for Ferrous Metal

. Coat # 1:

0809Red Oxide primer

Diluted 2 % Thinner 20 - 50

. Coat # 2:

0817 Semi Gloss Enamel

Diluted 5 % Thinner 20 - 50

. Coat # 3:

0817 Semi Gloss Enamel

Diluted 5 % Thinner 20 - 50

Protection & inspection:

. Clean the surface of piping system. Remove dirt and debris as work progresses.
. Cover all the painted pipe to avoid scratches.
. Repair all scratches of paints after completion of installation work.
. Inspection request shall be submitted upon completion of work, all appliances,
materials and workmanship shall be carefully examined for defects and for faults.
Any defects or faults shall be corrected before the appliances are handed over for use.
