"In the absence of clearly-defined goals, we become strangely loyal to performing

daily trivia until ultimately we become enslaved by it."

-- Robert Heinlein, American Novelist

Why Set Goals????

KEY to success

Setting goals is

He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.
Friedrich Nietzsche
A. Know the Why before you get lost in the How
a. Why am I doing this business?
b. What do I want my life to look like next month, next year, 5-10 years
down the road?
B. You cannot hit a target you cannot see
a. Without a focus for the direction in your life, you will wander aimlessly
until you are hopelessly lost and confused. That is when you start
getting older and look back and say what have I accomplished? Think
about the quality of life you want. You will want to take time to do this.
C. For what it makes of you
a. To become the person you were meant to be

Guidelines for setting goals.

1. Write them down!!
2. Suspend reality Dont filter, qualify or judge. In the beginning dont factor
in experience, resources, or ability. Just brainstorm (you can narrow down
later)
3. Thing BIG What is the one thing that is TOO BIG to imagine!!
4. State in the positive I want to weigh 140 pounds by Nov. 30 th, 13
5. State in the I AM I am going to be a Director by Jun 2013 NOT I want
to
6. Be sure your goals are YOUR goals Write goals from your TRUE heart not
what you think they should be or what anyone else expects of you.
7. Make sure your goals align with your values. Dont sacrifice core values for
something or you will not be interested in attaining it.
Lets design the person you have always wanted to be and the life you
have always wanted to have.
On the next page list at least 4 goals YOU want in each area of your life. Try to be
specific but remember the guidelines. This will be narrowed down.

1. Business
Example: Learn new skills, Find a Mentor, Mentor someone else, improve
time management skills, take a course, Move up in the career ladder.

2. Financial
Example: Start monthly savings plan, earn extra income to pay debt in full,
take finance courses, read books

3. Physical
Example: Reduce sugar and caffeine, limit fatty foods, go to bed earlier, lose
25 pounds, take yoga

4. Mental
Example: Incorporate more free time into weekly schedule, read inspirational
books,

5. Family
Example: Spend more time with family, have date night once a week/month,
develop friendships.

6. Spiritual

Example: Practice religion more faithfully, volunteer at church, have quiet

time.
7. Lifestyle
Example: Stop smoking, buy new home, reorganize kitchen, remodel
bathroom

8. Relationships
Example: Spend more time with best friends, cultivate relationships with likeminded achievers, spend more one-one time with children

Now take your goals and narrow down to the top 10 overall goals. In the box
next to each goal prioritize from one to ten. Set defined deadlines to have
them accomplished. Deadlines create a challenge and you respond to
challenge.

Determine if your goals are SMART goals- Specific, Measureable, Attainable,
Realistic, Time-sensitive
NOW WHAT??? When detailing your goals, You cannot WANT to do something or
HAVE anything; YOU can only BECOME what is necessary to attract what you
desire.

The YOU factor

YOU are what needs to be worked on, not your goal. Working on improving YOU in
this equation and every effect will grow in equality to the new proportion of YOU!!!
Example:
Goal: I AM earning an extra $100,000 in income this year.
Question: Who do I have to become to achieve this?
Answer: I am a smart, confident and effective leader. I am a master of time
efficiency. I focus solely on high-payoff and high-productivity actions. I wake up an
hour earlier and review my priority objectives each morning. I fuel my body
properly so I am energetic and highly effective each work hour. I am influential and
passionate.

So go back to each goal and ask the question. Who do I have to become to achieve
this? Write it under each of your 3 goals.
We do not attract what we want, we attract WHO WE ARE.
The world (and your goals) will meet you where you are. Focus on improving you
your attitudes, skills, and philosophies, and everything will improve for you.

The great tragedy is that we could, but we dont, we should, but we wont.
Within us all exists the capacity for uniqueness, for accomplishment, and
for freedom from unwanted obligation.
