Class Dojo
1. My Class Dojo classroom is registered for a first grade class. The class is a general education class
and includes all subjects; mathematics, science, social studies, and language arts. There are 19
students enrolled in this class for the year, and they each have a profile under my EMES (Eastern
Montgomery Elementary School) Class Dojo. In this Class Dojo, each student will be monitored
based on their communication and collaboration skills. Since each child has their own profile
under my account, each child will get an individual grade based on their positive and/or negative
communication and collaboration skills. At the end of each week, I will view the positive and/or
negative results gathered. Class Dojo is a fun and interactive way for students to monitor their
own behavior. It is fun because each student gets their own avatar. It is interactive because the
students are able to physically see the progress they are making within the classroom and with
their own personal skills.

2. The positive and negative behaviors are based off of communication and collaboration within
the classroom. These behaviors monitor how well students interact and work with one another.
These behaviors also monitor if a student is not progressing in their communication and
collaboration skills alongside their peers. For the positive behaviors, there are 11 different
options for individual points. These categories include, completes personal tasks,
encouragement, helping others, listening, on task, organized, participating, showing respect,
teamwork, and working hard. For the negative behaviors, there are eight options for individual
points to be lost. These categories include, bullying, disrespect, does not complete individual
tasks, does not meet deadlines, does not participate, off task, and unprepared. If a student is
awarded a positive award, that student gains points to their overall score. On the other hand,
if a student is awarded a needs work award, that student has points taken away from their
overall score. Class Dojo is a phenomenal program to use when dealing with classroom
management. It is a fun and intriguing way for students to see their progress within the
classroom.

3. Classroom Dojo also offers a reports section. This section is used to see the progress of the
entire class at one time. The report sheet gives you the percentage of positive behavior as a
class. The reports page also breaks down that percentage into sections. Each section represents
an award that has been given to a student or a group of students. The reports graph shows both
positive and negative awards that have been distributed within the class. This reports page
provides a way for students to see how they have worked together as a class. This visual is
beneficial for students to see because they will be able to recall this information better. The
reports page also provides teachers with a teachable moment. During this teaching moment the
teacher can discuss how close or far away the class is from being 100% positive! The teacher can
go over ways to increase the classroom percentage in order to reach their goal.
