I enjoyed observing at the Philadelphia Performing Arts Charter School. There are
Kindergarten and First Graders who are getting language support. These students are very
young. They actually speak English. They just need support and one on one in order for
them to improve their academic level as well as better their language acquisition. The school
is trying to emerge these students in regular classrooms that way they can be able to
assimilate with the rest of the students. Since these students are very young, they are like
sponges. They learn so fast. I observed how some of them correct their parents by saying
"No mommy, this is how we say it..." The teachers in this school are very helpful and kind to
these students. In this school, the students are exposed not only to ESL support but also to
the Arts such as Ballet, Art, Instrumental music, Vocal and French. These ESL students
show great potential during their art classes. I am really enjoying my observation.
