Introduction
On this reflection, I will explain the key experiences I faced in my simulated job interview in
Career and employment center of Bahrain Polytechnic. I will also explain how these experiences
added to my learning with respect to my present study. I will identify my strengths and weakness
in conducting the interview and propose useful criticism regarding the latter. Finally, I will use
what I have learned to develop new goals for myself and manage about how I will accomplish
them.

Preparation before the interview

The class has enhanced my knowledge of how to write an effective CV and how to be prepared
for an interview. Cover letter is an important part of the application for the employer and should
be sent along with the CV; in the beginning it was difficult for me to write a cover letter and CV.
However, the template and sample provided by the tutor helped me to write both of them. While
writing the cover letter and CV, I learned how to select the specific skills that requires for the
applied job and the one that Im strong on, like Problem Solving, IT skills, Decision making and
Management skills. The CV need to be well structured, the information must be carefully laid
out in a logical manner. My CV used to be slightly cramped but the trick and tips that I learned
in the class it become informative and concise. The Format of the CV play a significant role in
giving the first impression to the employer the font types, size and color must be carefully
chosen. As we learned, some fonts could be wider and consume more space than the other.
Being an active listener, this work for my advantage in an interview, I started practicing my
listening skills prior interview at home with my family, and I attempt to make the best out of any
situation. I gathered information and gained a direction for my simulated interview from class
practicing (ex. Videos, tutor questions in class), YouTube and useful websites. The technique
that we learned from the tutor that is about linking the answer with personal experience has given
me the courage to speak with confidence and can increase my chance to be selected for that job.

Interview reflection
In the simulated interview, I learned that the preparation for an interview is critical. For each
interview question, I should prepare a real story that can be effective. Smiling, concentration,
good listening and confidence are very important in an interview. I believe the overall result of
my simulated interview was good.
The first question, I was asked to talk about myself and my background and I answered very
well. Then the interviewer asked me to talk about my leadership - one of my favorite subject
for example, using my leadership skills in problem solving and I replied to the question using my
previous experience when I was in the sports community. I gave an example of a situation that
occurs during registration where we had a difficulty to register people but still we made it
because I have set the right plan to fix the problem and errors efficiently. The question I was
comfortable with was when the interviewer asked what is making you the best candidate. I was
comfortable with this question, because my response was attractive to the interviewer and I feel
that I give answer with good example I faced during my study. Another question was when the
interviewer asked me to give an example of the Decision making skills, I was not quite sure that
the example in my mind is the right one and I was confused to answer the question but the
interviewer understand the situation and skipped this question. The most valuable question I have
been asked is to talk about the benefit that they will gain if I am hired, my answer to the
interviewer was I am a fast learner and adapt to a new environment quickly. I think my answer
was short and the interviewer was expecting more attractively information but from his look I
think he was little satisfied.
In the future before coming to a real job interview I should have good example for each skills
that I have added in the CV and cover letter. Furthermore, when I asked question that I could not
answer it, I should give any answer and it may fit or not. Also there are many techniques for this
situation that I should learn how to use it to overcome situation like this.
The simulated interview shows me an overview of my personality and who I am. It shows that I
am a responsible person of my behavior, honest and social. The interview event is one example
when any one faced or talks first time to important person or any person in our life. When talking

to any person we should give a good overview of our personality and that what was happening
during the interview.

Conclusion
To conclude, the simulated interview was helpful; it gives me an overview of what I will be
expecting in real job interview and in my life experience. It alerts me on what I should focus
more in the interview. I learned how monitor my body language, be yourself and use your
common sense is what I recall from Men in Black I movie when Will Smith was interviewed
to become an agent, it is really work. In addition, the Pursuit of Happiness movie I learned to
be honest and not to answer more than what I have being asked.
